Telecommunications Experience Required (VoIP, Teleconferencing, PBX, Wireless)
NexGen is currently seeking a Telecommunications Systems Engineer to join our team to work on a federal government project. The division provides support for telecommunications to include voice and voicemail services, enterprise video teleconferencing, nationwide cellular procurement and contract management, and telecommunications programs service-wide management. This would include managing voice mail, connecting new telephones to the systems, and providing telecommunications help desk services to all staff. This individual will provide high-quality wireless (cellular) services using current technology, on a priority response. The supported environments include production, disaster recovery, test, and development. This individual will be required to work closely with members of the NexGen and client teams, including but not limited to, domain experts and developers.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following:
System administration to meet the telecommunications, voice support systems and video teleconferencing requirements.
Routine tasks to meet the system administration requirements including:
Complying with Service Level Agreements
Complying with all security protocols
Creating, editing, and monitoring scheduled tasks
User management (add/delete/role management)
Monitoring system performance
System Tuning
Monitoring for report and analyze anomalies
Assisting in Tier 1/2/3 support issues
Documentation of processes/configurations
Configuring and maintaining systems to perform auditing and logging
Patch management and vulnerability mitigation
Creating, editing, and generating end user training documents for new systems
Develop system database requirements for the telecommunications inventory including reviewing of existing technology and telecommunications hardware and software and recommendations regarding communications requirements and allocated budgets.
Technical support for the Avaya CM PBX including adding and removing users and devices, managing, and monitoring the voice mail system (AAM), and, when necessary, determining appropriate problem solutions for user requirements outside of the day-to-day maintenance support that may include new technology or new features on the existing PBX.
Manage the "change management" functions and requirements for the PBX.
Provide nationwide support for an enterprise VTC Infrastructure which is comprised of mostly Polycom equipment.
Other duties as assigned.
Technical Skills/Experience:
Technical knowledge on telecommunications issues, technology, and implementation strategies including detailed design and specification of a voice network to carry out the goals and objective, development, and implementation of site surveys to collect the information needed for the transition as well as for continued management of the service, and assistance with development of long-range management plans for supporting technical needs.
In-depth knowledge with Avaya's VoIP equipment and support, voice/VoIP design and site survivability, VoIP implementation, and remote management.
In-depth knowledge of video teleconferencing equipment and support, video- teleconferencing and transport design, video teleconferencing implementation, and remote management.
Additional Skills:
Excellent communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams.
Ability to pass background screening prior to employment required.
Willingness to travel to off-site locations as required.
US Citizenship, or legal permanent residence, or US work authorization with minimum 3 years of continuous US presence is required due to federal contract requirements.

Compensation: $75,000 to $88,000 per year (Dependent on Experience)
