As a Telecommunications, Security and Audio-Visual Designer, you will be accountable for preparing engineering drawings from sketches or engineering information. You will be responsible for project deadlines, deliverables, schedule, and quality of assigned tasks.

As the designer role you will work on various projects as assigned by organization leadership or Project Managers. This position will play a role in the entire design process including but not limited to preliminary assessments, concept creation, design, problem resolution, drawing and specification production, and construction administration. The Telecommunications, Security and Audio-Visual Designer will work on several concurrent projects.

Other duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:

Provide technical design of systems for building projects including telecommunications, electronic security, audio-visual systems, and related technologies. Responsibilities include preparation of engineering drawings, specifications, reports, review technical documents. Will be responsible to complete project assignments with minimal supervision as well as give directions to support staff to complete a project.

Gain familiarity with the client's expectations, scope, budget and schedule for assigned tasks Recognize and communicate scope and design changes promptly Collaborate design criteria with engineering team members to gather information required to design telecom, security and A/V system(s) Coordinate with electrical team members for systems power requirements Coordinate with mechanical team members for systems cooling requirements Plan and design backbone distribution, cable pathways, Audio-visual, and telecom space drawings and schematics for commercial and industrial buildings using CAD software Conduct field reviews and surveys to verify accuracy of completed design, when applicable and requested by senior staff Interpret architect drawings/specifications, blueprints and construction documents Apply all applicable codes including manufacturer instructions. Utilize BIM software to provide layouts, general arraignments, profile views, details, under close supervision Produce installation details and room layouts Provide on-site assistance during start-ups and construction, when applicable and requested by senior staff Lead and provide guidance to a draftsperson or other subordinate Coordinate work activities with other staff members and the discipline lead Produce installation specifications with engineering review and approval Understand and apply both Jacobs and client safety standards in design and everyday activities. Actively cooperate with members of your project task force, client personnel and members of your department, as appropriate Understand client expectations, as determined by the team, and constantly strive to achieve better results than what the client is expecting Meet commitments that you make to the client, individually or as a team, to complete work by certain dates and budget Here's what you'll need:

Knowledge and application of NFPA 70 (NEC), TIA/EIA standards, and other NFPA codes governing designs Knowledge and application of relevant codes and standards such as NEMA, ANSI and BICSI Knowledge and application of company engineering design and BIM & CAD drafting standards Able to route and size raceways, perform fill calculations Familiarity with specifications and installation details Able to read, develop and understand Division 27 & 28 specifications Able to create accurate installation documents from information found on vendor equipment drawings and submittals Knowledge and understanding of work / information flow between disciplines Knowledge and understanding of schedule constraints and information requirements for the production of deliverables This position requires a minimum 5 years of relevant experience in telecommunication design / drafting. Proficient in Revit and 2D AutoCAD Proficient in Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, OneNote, Access, BlueBeam, Good listening, writing and communication skills Good presentation skills Able to work independently Strong interpersonal and time management skills US Citizenship HS Diploma, or equivalent Ideally, you'll also have: 4-year College Degree Professional Engineering license (working towards receiving) BISCI, RCDD Certification (working towards receiving) Jacobs health and welfare benefits are designed to invest in you, and in the things you care about. The base salary range for this position is $75,000 to $115,800.

This range reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hire salaries for the position. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
