As a Telecommunication Operator, you will answer an operator#s console and workstation telephone to manage incoming, outgoing, and inter-office calls. This role also includes performing various hospital communications and clerical duties and ensuring completion of calls for the entire staff. By performing these duties, you will play a vital role in supporting the Medical Center#s mission to deliver the highest quality of patient care in an economically sound and efficient manner.

Responsibilities Answers in-house calls for physicians and staff, addressing requests for pages, outside lines, and assisting patients promptly and courteously. Pages doctors and authorized personnel using the public address system and activates in-house long-range beepers as requested. Monitors the computerized patient database (#Alink-up screen#) to expedite calls to appropriate inpatient areas for required information. Processes #no answer# calls by screening to alternate extensions or paging if calls are urgent. Provides general information to callers, including hospital locations, administrative or supervisory personnel names, following departmental confidentiality policies. Education and Training: High School Diploma or equivalent is required. Mandated and Permissive Reporter Training required


Experience:


One to two years of experience with computerized telecommunications systems and operator consoles in a healthcare setting is preferred. Skills: Proficient in computer usage. Excellent communication skills with a clear speaking voice. Detail-oriented. Physical Demands and Sensory Requirements: Requires sedentary work consistently. Possesses manual dexterity. Bilateral hearing sensitivity within normal limits (0-24 dB HL) aided or unaided, with functional speech discrimination for telephone and interpersonal communication. Visual acuity of at least 20/60 in one eye, with or without correction. Color perception capability. Ability to communicate effectively verbally. # If all this sounds good, apply now!
