This position is based in Gahanna, Ohio.
This position is part of the Telecom Enterprise Operations IP Services Team, focusing on enterprise networking services including Firewalls (preferably Cisco ASA), Secure Network Access Control (Cisco ISE) , VPN, enterprise routing and switching, and operation, support and maintenance.
The team is also responsible for f5 load balancing (LTM/GTM), DNS/DHCP/IP Management (DDI) Infoblox, Network Access Control operation, support, and maintenance.
The team participates in the design, installation, configuration, support and performance analysis of intermediate and enterprise networks and systems. Candidate should possess an intermediate understanding of communications technologies and demonstrate the ability to perform on routine tasks. Perform project management duties on routine assignments independently.
Analyze, troubleshoot, and resolve network problems of moderate complexity. This team also provides 24x7 on-call support of the enterprise IP networks.

1.Essential Function: Participates in the design, installation, configuration, troubleshooting and performance analysis of AEP's intermediate and enterprise telecommunication networks and systems.
Participate in the on-call process for support of the enterprise network devices
2.Understand and follow policies, practices, procedures, standards, and rules of the company and complies with the regulations and procedures required by external agencies.
3.Coordinate and monitor work activities, using approved applications and tools, for projects as required to perform routine engineering tasks.
4.Prepare cost estimates for the routine engineering assignments using established guidelines.
5.Perform documentation of project work using established guidelines
6.Learn AEP's organizational structure and the specific role and responsibility of their individual organizational unit.
7.Adhere to AEP's budgeting and approval processes as part of annual planning and project planning.
8.Perform routine engineering activity with minimum direction from higher level employees
9.Utilize basic techniques to perform analysis associated with the resolution of routine technical problems
10. Apply economic analysis techniques in project development and approval
11. Demonstrate knowledge of AEP networks, components and facilities by enable more efficient and comprehensive responses to projects and problems.
12. Follow the standard workflow for routine engineering projects.
