As a defense contractor, there are specific programs requiring a certain level of security clearance and special access for assigned staff. The selected candidate will be required to secure these accesses. Not being able to secure the Interim Secret Security Clearance needed for this position may result in an offer of employment being rescinded.

This position requires a U.S. person or the ability to obtain an Export Authorization from the appropriate government agency for non-U.S. persons.

Primary responsibilities include assisting Sr. Engineers with root cause failure analysis of products including assemblies, components and manufacturing materials. Specific responsibilities include testing and diagnosing products at the component and assembly level, material analysis, and deprocessing and/or microsection analysis of components and assemblies. The candidate will gain knowledge of the theory and operation of various analytical tools including electrical test equipment, optical microscopes, real-time x-ray, scanning electron microscopes, chemical analysis equipment and other testing and analysis tools. The preparation of formal analysis reports will be required. Good interpersonal skills and oral and written communication skills are essential. The candidate will be expected to work on his or her own with some oversight by Sr. engineers.

U.S. Citizenship status is required as this position will need a U.S. Security Clearance within 1 year of start date.

For Multi-Level Intern Requisitions:

  • This position can be a Salary Grade of G04, G05 or NUG based on the candidate's qualifications as they relate to the skills, experience and responsibility requirements for the position.
  • G03 (College Sophomore by Fall 2020) - must have completed 30 hours of college
  • G04 (College Junior by Fall 2020) - must have completed 60 hours of college
  • G05 (College Senior by Fall 2020) - must have completed 90 hours of college
  • NUG (Post- Graduate-Masters-PhD by Fall 2020) - must have an undergraduate degree and currently enrolled or about to enroll in a graduate degree program

Required Skills

  • Ability to independently author technical reports with some oversight by Sr. Engineers.

  • Ability to complete analysis work with problem solving skills and perform in a fast-paced dynamic environment.

  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office suite (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, etc.).

  • U.S. Citizenship

  • Ability to access US only data systems

  • U.S. Citizenship status is required as this position will need a U.S. Security Clearance within 1 year of start date

Must be working towards a degree in Electrical Engineering, Material Science, Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, and Chemistry. Must be appropriate grade level listed above.
