Job Description


As a key team member of the Technology Services department, the intern will be responsible for managing assigned projects and/or supporting senior team members, in alignment with the business's requirements and priorities. This position contributes to the department by improving quality and flow of information and data, building / reinforcing departmental culture, and promoting the adoption of new processes and tools.

Based on the intern's qualifications and interests, we will tailor the internship program and establish a relationship with the team within Technology Services that best fits the needs and interests of the intern. Available teams include the Project Management Office, Data & Analytics, Web & Mobile Services, Infrastructure, Cybersecurity, Vendor Management, Architecture, Generation & Wholesale Technologies, Business Technologies, Testing Automation, and End User Experience.


  • Develop and present regular and timely reports and presentations; including illustrations and graphics of Technology Services initiatives and associated business outcomes.

  • Gather data to support departmental and team reporting

  • Recommend and design automated solutions to meet reporting needs.

  • All other duties as assigned.


  • Graduate student or a junior/senior undergraduate student pursuing a degree in computer science, information systems, business administration or other related field

  • Utility/energy experience preferred

  • Previous internship experience desired

  • Understanding of IT and any concentrations within it including: project management, testing, web, and/or data analytics.

  • Understanding of relevant IT software development life-cycles.

  • Experience in an outsourced IT and/or consulting environment.

  • Advanced computer skills including MS Office products.

End users, as we all, need to have very little down time so it is important that we help them resolve any issues that impact their ability to do their job. The Regional IT Support Team at BlackBerry provides support to end users globally. This support includes analyzing and repairing issues with computers, assisting in the users in the configuration of their mobile devices and, as needed, provides support in the two data centers in Irving, with racking and cabling servers. Your quick and educated response to customer issues will ensure that the customers can continue to work. Reporting to the Senior System Administrator in Irving, you will be responsible for checking a ticket queue and resolving issues within a certain amount of time depending on priority. This position will require you to pull all your computer science skills into play and offer many leaning opportunities in this field. Term: 4 Months Location: Irving, Texas, US RESPONSIBILITIES * Provide world-class support and reinforce customer confidence while a resolution is being investigated * Partner with other System Administrators to effectively manage customer issues and escalations as well as customer satisfaction * Delegate escalations, as needed, to other members of the team or specific providers in IT * Triage incoming emails from various stakeholders and customers * Maintain and update the Computer Inventory - place and track orders for accessories and devices * Create new/update Knowledge Base documentation as required SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS * Currently pursuing an Associate or Bachelor degree in a related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
