The Oregon Convention Center is one of the largest convention facilities in the Pacific Northwest, attracting out-of-town visitors to national conventions, tradeshows and meetings, and local people to special events. The convention center's roughly 160 employees host more than 1 million visitors each year.

The Oregon Convention Center (OCC) is looking for a Technology Sales Coordinator to promote and sell technology services to OCC clients and associated exhibitors and attendees. This position provides consultation, estimates, sales, reporting & implementation for services including exclusive Internet services, WiFi, VoIP telephone, and Local Area Networking (LAN) services; as well as digital signage.

This role provides customer service to exhibitors and show managers during the event planning process and attends planning and pre-convention meetings. The Technology Sales Coordinator may assist in event coverage, setup, and configuration of event technology services. This position works independently, though regularly collaborates with other Technology staff, Events staff, and other departments.

As the Technology Sales Coordinator you will

  • Promote and sell technology services including Internet access, WiFi, digital signage, and phone service.

  • Prepare, present, negotiate and follow up on formal bids to established or potential show managers and promoters.

  • Provide technical advice and guidance regarding services and service level needed for event success.

  • Participate in facility tours for potential clients; answer questions about facility services, costs, policies, and requirements.

  • Develop client relationships to increase the potential for added sales and revenue.

  • Perform occasional configuration changes on event network equipment.

  • Assist in coordinating installation of services and in troubleshooting equipment as needed during event days.

  • Monitor network activities for current events and maintain contact with customers to ensure quality of service.

  • Provide on-site support to clients during events, communicating expectations and changes.

  • Act as liaison between clients' contracted service providers and OCC departments to coordinate services for clients.

  • Create, edit, and schedule digital signage content for clients and in-house customers.

  • Record sales, prepare billing information, and reconcile and report differences between bid specifications and clients' actual use.

  • Report data for accurate and timely billing of technology services; develop and produce status reports; investigate and reconcile billing disputes.

  • Study industry pricing and trends to maintain competitiveness within the industry and recommend new services and pricing structures.

  • Maintain quality records on client needs, usage and adjustments made to accommodate requests.

  • Collect statistical network data for events and provide reports to customers, where applicable or when requested.

  • Maintain and exhibit discretion with confidential and/or sensitive information.

Attributes for success

  • Proficient knowledge of Internet, computer networking, WiFi, LAN, VoIP

  • Proficient knowledge of networking equipment, IP, routers, switches, wireless antennas

  • Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with all persons contacted in the course of work

  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively, both verbally and in writing

  • Ability to interpret or design technical instructions, drawings and/or diagrams for bid specifications

  • Ability to prioritize and multi-task; must be organized and flexible to change course of work/projects as circumstances dictate

  • Knowledge of procedures, methods, and techniques of marketing and sales

  • Ability to work effectively with information management systems and adapt quickly to system changes and updates

  • Ability to analyze information and use logic to resolve issues and problems

  • Ability to work assigned schedule and exhibit regular and predictable attendance

  • Work in a safe manner and follow safety policies, practices, and procedures

  • Use discretion with confidential and sensitive matters

TO QUALIFY

Minimum qualifications

  • High school diploma or G.E.D, and

  • Minimum of two years of direct customer service experience and sales, and

  • Minimum of two years of experience with the technical aspects of computer networking, WiFi, LAN, WAN, Internet, and VoIP technologies, or

  • Any combination of education, professional, volunteer and lived experience that provides the necessary knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the classification duties and responsibilities.

  • Ability to work various hours including weekends, evenings, and holidays

Your transferable skills are any skills you have gained through education, work experience, including the military, or life experience that are relevant for this position.

  • Current driver's license and driving record sufficient to be insured by Metro insurance carrier

  • Certified Network Administrator (CNA)

  • Other related network certifications

  • Experience with Ungerboeck software platform is preferred

COMPENSATION, BENEFITS AND REPRESENTATON

The full salary range for this position is step # 1, $66,385.00 to step# 7, $88,963.00.

However, unless a candidate's qualifications justify, based on the Oregon Pay Equity Act requirements and Metro's internal equity review process, the appointment will likely be made between step # 1, $66,385.00 to step # 7, $88,963.00.

This position is not eligible for overtime and is non-represented. It is classified as a Technology Sales Coordinator.
