Job Description:

The person selected for the position of Technology Program Manager will be directly responsible for driving the successful planning and execution of strategic technology programs and projects with a high level of complexity and risk involving multiple business units, regions or the enterprise as a whole, and oftentimes with a team of project managers or scrum masters across multiple workstreams. The programs and projects may involve many different application development, infrastructure and support teams as part of a matrixed IS organization and may also involve third party vendors. The work may be delivered through a combination of waterfall, iterative waterfall, or scrum team structures.

This role requires exceptional organizational skills, active involvement with the team(s), a focus on collaboration and accountability to drive results, and strong communication skills to effectively interact and present with various levels of leadership and stakeholders. The role also requires the initiative and aptitude to clearly understand program objectives, the work required to achieve those objectives and how it relates to desired business outcomes.

  • This is a hybrid-office position and requires regular attendance in our office.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Responsible to:

  • Manage programs which contain projects of high complexity and risk affecting multiple business units, regions, or the enterprise.

  • Direct and manage program execution and give coaching to project managers.

  • Report status and health of programs and maintain awareness of individual projects as they contribute to a program.

  • Initiate programs with a kick-off event, explaining the mission, associated projects and their relationships to stakeholders.

  • Provide guidance around selection of project or program methodology.

EXPERTISE:

  • Has broad expertise in project and program management methodologies and practices.

  • Demonstrated knowledge of the major disciplines and phases of project management and experience applying them at all phases.

  • Proven experience in process improvement, mentoring less experienced contributors, project or program governance and agile/scrum methodological modeling and enforcement.

  • Maintains full awareness of the implications to the business of success or failure of the assigned portfolio.

EXPERIENCE:

Typically has a minimum 8 years of relevant experience.

TECHNICAL SKILLS:

  • Business Alignment: Obtains a clear understanding of strategic program objectives and the work being done, and how they contribute to achieving business outcomes

  • Program Planning: Collaborates with stakeholders to develop the strategy for overall management of the program. Creates the program plan engaging all project managers including scope, stakeholder roles and responsibilities, governance structure, resource management, workstreams, delivery methodology/team structures, schedule/work breakdown structure and dependency management, cost/budet management, quality expectations, risk management, communication plan, performance monitoring and reporting, change management, etc), ensuring alignment with business goals and stakeholder expectations

  • Program Execution: Drives execution of the strategic program by leveraging the governance structures and organizational policies, standards and processes to ensure compliance, effectiveness, efficiency and quality of business outcomes. Proactively manages program milestones and critical dates to identify potential issues/risks so they can be appropriately mitigated and to keep leadership informed or engaged as required.

  • Drives Multiple Workstreams: Actively manages and coordinates several concurrent projects/workstreams and their dependencies, ensuring they align with program objectives and are completed in alignment with the overall program plan.

  • Stakeholder Management and Communication: Initiates program with kick off event and maintain clear and effective communication with stakeholders at all levels including executive leadership, to provide program overview and updates, manage expectations and the progam RAID log. Develops and maintains productive working relationships with project sponsors, vendors, stakeholders and team members. Negotiates and persuades decision makers regarding necessary action steps to achieve the goals and objectives of the program. Conducts formal review with project sponsor at program completion to confirm acceptance and satisfaction. Conducts retrospectives with team members and stakeholders for feedback and satisfaction levels.

  • Performance Accountability: Monitors, controls and reports on program performance (scope, schedule, cost, resources, risk) using metrics and KPIs to assess progress and variances. Identifies and implements any required changes or improvements as necessary to ensure the program remains within specified scope ans is within time, cost and quality objectives, taking ownership of outcomes.

  • Leadership and Team Engagement: Leads, provides work direction and engages with other project managers, providing hands-on guidance and support to ensure program/project success. Collaborates with PMO leadership team to provide constructive performance feedback and coaching as required.

  • Proactive Problem Solving and Conflict Resolution: Identifies and resolves complex issues promptly, ensuring minimal disruption to timelines and deliverables. Resolves problems across the organization by overcoming obstacles and resistance to change. Appropriately manages conflict resolution within the framework of business and project / program objectives.

  • Contributes to PMO Maturity and Improvements: Collaborates with leaders to mature and improve the team, processes, tools

  • Other duties as assigned

  • Proficient using software tools for program and project management - Microsoft Project Online and Azure DevOps (ADO)

  • Proficient using Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint and PowerBI for metrics and reporting

  • Project Management Professional (PMP) Certification (preferred)

  • Certified ScrumMaster (CSM) Certification (preferred)

KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

Educational Requirements:

Bachelor's or advanced degree in computer science, information systems, or related fields; or equivalent work experience.

Communication and Interpersonal skills:

  • Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills.

  • Ability to prioritize and handle multiple projects and prioritize effectively.

  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.

  • At a minimum, the ability to work from 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday.

  • Consistent attendance is required, which may include attendance at after-hour Company events.

  • Ability to accept supervision.

  • Ability to foster, develop and maintain professional and collaborative working relationships. Must be able to get along with others, i.e., peers, supervisors, outside customers, and vendors.

  • Ability to interact effectively and professionally with all levels of management, employees and customers by email, phone, video conferences and in person.

  • Must be a personable, positive, and professional representative of the company.

  • Ability to work overtime as requested and approved by supervisor.

  • Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and Outlook.

PHYSICAL/MENTAL DEMANDS:

  • Overnight business travel by air and/or automobile, may be required.

  • Valid driver's license and auto insurance may be required.

  • The ability to maintain confidences and confidential information may be required.

  • The ability to perform under pressure and to be flexible with disruptions and deadlines is required.

  • Repetitive and continual keyboard activity and interaction with display monitors is required.
