Position: Technology Maintenance Assistant
Reports to: Director of Technology

SUMMARY:
Position is responsible for researching, troubleshooting and resolving issues that the staff and students might have with their district issued technology, including laptops, tablets, classroom computers, printers, document cameras, digital cameras, and projectors. This position is split between the Hudson Tech department and the Hudson Adult Learning center(2 day/week)
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Receive and prioritize work requests via the district's ticketing system.
Hardware and software installations.
Provide technical support to staff and students on hardware, software, and network access issues
Troubleshooting and researching computer software and hardware issues
Project-based work as needed.
Communication with outside contracted vendors for service and support.
Update district tablets.
Assist with inventory tracking.
Perform other tasks as assigned by Supervisor
Qualifications:
High School Diploma/GED required
Bachelors degree preferred
Successful completion of Criminal Records Check (CORI), and fingerprints
ACCOUNTABILITY
The nature of work assures that errors are usually detected in succeeding operations. Consequences of errors, missed deadlines or poor judgment may include time loss caused by back checking by others and slowdowns in the processing of the work, such as department-wide printing or individual PC functioning. Errors are generally confined to a single individual or department
EVALUATION: Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Hudson School Committee's policy on evaluation.
CONFIDENTIALITY
As a Technical Maintenance Assistant, employee could access confidential information on the network but direct access is not typically available while performing regular duties.
PHYSICAL, MOTOR, AND VISUAL SKILLS
Physical Skills
Work is typically in an office setting, involving sitting, with intermittent periods of stooping, climbing, walking, stretching and standing. May require some agility and physical strength, such as moving hardware within or between buildings, or working in awkward spaces. Occasionally, work may require lifting heavy objects and carrying them (up to 50 lbs.). There may be need to stretch and reach to retrieve materials.
Motor Skills
Duties may involve assignments requiring application of hand and eye coordination with finger dexterity and motor coordination.
Visual Skills
Visual demands require inspecting hardware, cables, and other devices, as well as routinely reading documents for general understanding and analytical purposes (hard copy and via computer screen).
WORK YEAR:
12 months, 261 days, 7.5 hours/day
3 personal days, 12 sick days, 15 vacation days prorated pursuant to date of hire

While performing duties of this job, the employee may often remain in a stationary position for considerable periods of time. The employee will have ample periods of standing and may be required to traverse throughout the building. The employee must frequently use hands to finger, handle, or feel; and use hand strength to grasp tools. Frequently operates a computer and other office productivity machinery (i.e., calculator, copy machine, and computer printer). Physical abilities may also include lifting/carrying/pushing/pulling, stooping/crouching, reaching/handling, talking/hearing conversations, and near/far visual acuity/depth perception/color vision/field. Ability must be able to lift and/or push and pull 15 to 20lbs for short periods, and walk up and down stairs several times a day. The employee must be able to communicate effectively with students, staff members, and the public in person and on the telephone.
