West Hartford Public Schools is seeking to fill a position for a full-time technology & engineering teacher for the start of the 2022-23 school year at King Philip Middle School. Candidate must have strong technology skills in Microsoft Office and Google platform. Must be prepared to teach any assigned Technology & Engineering unit from the program of studies. Candidate must be a team player and be willing to work in a strong, collaborative environment.

Requirement: Current CT Certification (047).

Primary responsibilities include but are not limited to, the following:

  • Plan engaging lessons and develop instructional materials and assessments.

  • Create a welcoming and structured classroom environment.

  • Work with the department to develop curriculum on ongoing basis.

  • Participate in professional growth activities.

Compensation Overview The annual base salary range provided for this position is a nationwide market range and represents a broad range of salaries for this role across the country. The actual salary for this position will be determined by a number of factors, including the scope, complexity and location of the role; the skills, education, training, credentials and experience of the candidate; and other conditions of employment. As part of our comprehensive compensation and benefits program, employees are also eligible for performance-based cash incentive awards. TLDP is a one to two-year experiential program containing three designated tracks: Software Engineering, Cybersecurity, and Infrastructure & Cloud Engineering. Each track is designed to grow and develop your technical and self-leadership skills and each experience, within your assigned track, will consist of a combination of hands-on opportunities, an immersive learning journey, and a mentoring program to prepare you for a dynamic career. You will have the opportunity to explore multiple technologies while learning from different leaders within Travelers. As a Technology LDP participant, you exemplify model behavior and will be expected to positively challenge processes and identify new and innovative ways to complete objectives more effectively and efficiently. You will be expected to take initiative, embrace change, actively listen to, and support diverse points of view and celebrate the success of others. Travelers' Software Engineering team designs, builds, and tests a variety of applications that support our employees, our business, and our customers using a dynamic and evolving set of technologies while adhering to Software Engineering best practices. As a Software Engineering TLDP Participant you will partner closely with the business to refine features, plan user stories, and execute on the development and testing of those user stories to deliver business capabilities to market. TLDP participants in the Software Engineering track will experience an immersive learning journey focused on disruptive technologies, insurance, strategy, leading self and influencing others. Additional program components include mentoring, networking, and career guidance. The intent of this position is to provide our 2022 Travelers Summer Interns, Summer Students, and current employees the ability to apply to our 2023 Technology Leadership Development Program Full-time opportunities. What Will You Do? * Contribute to the overall software design strategy by planning, developing, testing, and implementing software solutions that enable our products, distribution workflows, and customer, agent, and employee experiences. * Leverage modern software engineering and analytic tools and practices to design, deliver, and support state-of-the-art and high performing infrastructure platforms and services enabling business operations and technology solutions. * Perform other duties as assigned. What Will Our Ideal Candidate Have? * Cumulative GPA of 3.0 or greater. * Less than three years of technology related experience (may include one or more internship experiences in the Technology field). * Exposure to object-oriented programming (OOP) in one major language. * Suggested majors include Computer Science, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Information Systems. * Self-starter with a strong track record of exploring new technologies, applications, and environments beyond required job and/or educational commitments. * Strong track record of taking ownership and responsibility for actions and outcomes, performance, and results. * Ability to proactively manage time and prioritize multiple projects simultaneously. * Strong collaboration skills with the ability to actively engage with others while maintaining a positive attitude. * Ability to work independently and as part of a team. * Demonstrated aptitude in identifying current or future problems or opportunities, analyzing data, synthesizing, and comparing information to understand issues, identifying cause/effect relationships, and exploring alternative solutions to support sound decision making. What is a Must Have? * Undergraduate degree with a technology major or minor, or the successful completion of a state-licensed technical bootcamp. * Legally authorized to work in the United States now and in the future.
