Director of Technology
Job Summary
Provides strategic, systematic, and operational leadership, vision, and technical skills regarding all technology operations and services for the entire district. Provides decision making, maintenance, administration, configuration, training, and troubleshooting for district technology and information systems. Leads the Technology Department and Technology Committee. Provides technical support and assistance to district personnel.
Reports To: Deputy Superintendent of Operations
Qualifications
High School Diploma or G.E.D
Four Year Degree in a Related Field and/or Five Years of Related Experience
Possession of or eligibility to obtain a valid New Mexico Driver's License
Current Fingerprint-Based Criminal History Background Check

Experience Supervising Personnel
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Provides strategic, tactical, and operational leadership, vision, supervisory, coordination, and technical skills which will promote exemplary technology operations and services for the entire district
Provides operation, maintenance, administration, configuration, training, and troubleshooting for district technology and information systems
Leads the Technology Department and Technology Committee
Provides technical support and assistance to district personnel
Maintains computer, server, network, application, and web security, both internal and external
Guides the use of technology in the district
Maintains, supports, and troubleshoots intranet, extranet, and Internet web sites.
Operates, monitors, maintains, configures, customizes, supports and troubleshoots all district communications services and applications, including telephony, WAN, LAN, intercom, and cloud services
Interfaces with district employees, contractors, the New Mexico Public Education Department, and other outside agencies to monitor the successful submission of STARS and other required state and federal reporting
Supervises the operation, maintenance, configuration, support, and troubleshooting of the student information system and other line-of-business databases and applications
Oversees, monitors, troubleshoots, and configures all district remote access and cloud service applications
Conducts training for all district personnel, students, and parents/guardians when needed
Assists in the documentation and management of all help desk tickets using the automated help desk system
Compiles, updates, and maintains technical documentation
Assists other Technology personnel with duties as needed
Begins/continues education and professional development using various resources including college, correspondence courses, E-Collaboration, E-Learning, seminars, trade shows, peer-tutoring, and on-the-job-training
Follows all Board of Education, District, and Technology Department policies, procedures, and District administrative handbooks
Monitor and supervise the implementation of the district's long range (typically 3 and/or 5 year) technology plan(s)
Plan and coordinate district staff development as it relates to issues of technology
Undertake and/or coordinate contracting minor/major maintenance/repair of equipment and systems
Approve and/or coordinate all technology-related purchases within the district
Approve and/or coordinate technology hardware and software usage within the district
Operate as a liaison between the school district, the New Mexico Public Education Department, and any other entities relating to technology
Other duties as assigned

12 Month Contract

Salary and work year per the Aztec School District Approved Salary Schedule
Evaluation
Performance of duty will be evaluated at least annually in accordance with Aztec School Board Policy.
Physical Rating Level
This position will require the employee to function at a "Medium" physical capacity as defined by Worker's Compensation Statutes. "Medium" physical capacity indicates the ability to lift up to 50 pounds occasionally or up to 25 pounds frequently.
