Your Role:

You will identify and execute in-licensing opportunities with external partners in the identified LSC field of science (Biochemistry / Bioactive Small Molecules for Drug Discovery / Cheminformatics / Organic Chemistry / Stable Isotopes). You will manage a broad network of researchers that are a productive source of new product and technology licenses from scientific journals, academic, industrial, and government laboratories, and/or technology transfer offices as well as internal stakeholders. You will independently assess and evaluate customer-relevant technology and new product opportunities, present to management and internal teams, drive discussions, to ensure seamless transition of opportunity to business development.

Identify and communicate potential technology opportunities to internal stakeholders. Partner with product management & R&D to manage existing collaborative relationships and creation of new relationships.

You will manage processes and stakeholders for maximum efficiency. Manage own workload, including list of scientific journals, KOLs and consultants, startups, and conference network.

Participate in out-licensing strategy and implementation to obtain greatest financial and strategic return for the company. Provide technical consulting and support to appropriate business segments. Utilize expertise primarily regarding own technical area or discipline, Leverage scientific background to explain complex technical information to others internally earn and maintain knowledge of company capabilities for proper evaluation of strategic/ technical / cultural fit of product and technologies

Open to any location, can be remote with close proximity to an airport.

Who you are:

You must have demonstrated experience in negotiation and knowledge of basic contract language and contract negotiation. Knowledge of patenting process and intellectual property rights.

Have strong people/communication skills. Have strong customer orientation. Have excellent organizational skills, including the ability to prioritize and multitask. Be self-motivated and results oriented.

  • Able to travel up to one to two weeks per month.

  • Proficient in MS Office

  • Ph.D. or equivalent degree in relevant scientific field or MBA with 10+ yrs of scientific experience

  • 3+ years of experience in sourcing new products and technologies specific to life science industry

Job Summary The Licensing Manager is responsible for the development and execution of Licensed portfolio strategies and plans in support of General Merchandise and HDMC objectives. This role oversees a team that manages the portfolio of licensed products, including financial and line planning, product approvals, contract and audit management, royalty reporting and analytics. This role manages annual business and product planning processes to ensure cohesive and differentiated assortment of products that compliment the total GM portfolio. The Licensing Manager reviews, manages, and negotiates licensing agreements to successfully deliver product for targeted consumer segments and manage new business opportunities. Lastly, the Licensing Manager stays current with licensing industry standards and best practices and identifies strategic growth opportunities. Job Responsibilities This is what you'll do.. * Manages employees and has accountability for performance and results of the licensing team. Provides guidance to employees, colleagues, and/or customers and addresses resources and operational challenges to support departmental plans and priorities * Develops and manages licensing strategies and works with licensees on execution of product plans that compliment the total GM portfolio. Understands overarching GM strategies and sourced product plans to ensure licensed portfolio meets objectives. * Understands industry best practices and benchmarks, oversees development of deal memos and contract negotiations, audits, royalty reporting and analytics. * Identifies and solves technical and operational problems related to royalty reporting, technology, analytics, and data management; understands and recognizes broader impact across product, finance, and compliance. Decisions and problem solving are guided by policies, procedures, department plan, and guidance from leader Education Specifications Bachelors Degree Required Experience Requirements We're looking for someone with a minimum of 8 years of related experience.
