Perspecta has a need for a Technical Consultant III - DB2 Database Administration. This position is based in Clarksburg, WV; however, there is opportunity for the right qualified candidate to work 100% remotely.

Candidate should have three to four years hands on experience as a DB2 Database Administrator. The candidate will be responsible for ensuring the performance, availability, and security, in addition to being responsible for orchestrating upgrades, backups, and provisioning of database instances, participate in on-call rotation for critical production systems. Candidate will also work in tandem with the other teams, preparing documentations and specifications as required.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Implement new database instances

  • Design/implement backup and recovery solutions in a Netbackup environment

  • Perform capacity planning and projections

  • Must be able and available to adjust to a flexible work schedule required to provide database on-call support evenings and weekends

  • Work with development team to troubleshoot and diagnose application problems, performance tuning issues

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelors Degree in Information Technology, or related field, and a minimum of 3 years of relevant experience -or- in lieu of a degree, an additional 4 years of experience

  • Experienced in re-directed restore in a Netbackup cross platform environment

  • Experienced with installing Enterprise server, and related fixpacks

  • Experienced shell, ksh, csh, awk, sed platform scripting in a Unix/Linux environment

  • Experienced with LDAP, Websphere or other various IBM products

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of pure
