Job Summary

Avient's ColorMatrix business in Berea, OH is looking for an intern for the summer of 2021 to work with our technology and quality team. This role is designed to support both functions while reporting to the site Technology Manager. The intended duration of this role is 90 days.

Essential Functions

  • Ensures that color samples are scheduled in accordance with customer specifications at the lowest possible cost, while meeting company standards of performance.

  • Schedules and coordinates color match requests to assure on-time, cost effective, accurate color match samples are delivered to the customer.

  • Organizes and maintains color match records.

  • Generates shop orders for samples, chip label production, and order matches.

  • Communicates with Lab, Customer Service, and Sales to assure that customer requirements are understood.

  • Prepares color matching samples for shipment.

  • Labels and files sample retains.

  • Generates correspondence for customers to include request for formulas, retains, and regulatory documentation.

  • Communicates with customers regarding status of samples/orders and to obtain samples.

  • Maintains the Quality Assurance log.

  • Maintains pricing quotes for Sales area.

  • Develops and maintains accurate and current understanding of customers' business and processes in order to improve customer service and reduce cost.

  • Utilizes automated systems and technology (SAP, PC, Color Computer, etc.) to develop, diagnose and/or improve processes and resolve customer issues.

  • Develops and maintains a safe working environment and good housekeeping conditions.

  • Observes applicable Safety, Health, and Environmental rules and guidelines. Uses appropriate personal protective equipment.

  • Attends and participates in training opportunities and seminars relevant to this position.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education and Experience:

  • Current student with focus in chemistry or chemical engineering.
  • 2-3 years general work experience.

As such, all new employees must undergo our standard background check and drug screen test for pre-employment purposes Position Overview The Logistics Center Technician is responsible for performing a variety of shipping, receiving, inventory, logistics and general warehouse tasks; while providing a high level of customer service to internal and external customers. Responsibilities * Prepares shipments for postal or commercial conveyance; determines most economical and efficient shipping method based on customer requirements. * Responsible for selecting appropriate shipping container; packs items to ensure safe delivery. * Prepares bills of lading; check items to be shipped/received against work orders to ensure correct quantities, destinations, and shipping locations are correct. * Use scan gun to receive and pick items in the shipping process. * Basic kitting of equipment based on customer requirements. * Receives and unloads incoming materials and compares information on packing slip with purchase orders, escalates discrepancies to leadership. * Inspect shipments for damages or defects, records discrepancies or damages and notifies leadership or appropriate internal team of issues for resolution. * Delivers items to requisitioning departments and obtains authorized signatures for accepted items. * May operate dolly, pallet jack, cardboard crusher and/or forklift in loading and unloading supplies and equipment. * May operate company vehicle to deliver shipments as requested. * Follows established departmental policies, procedures, and objectives. * May assist in routine maintenance of equipment and shipping area and general facility * Maintain a secure facility at all times including monitoring inbound/outbound materials and personnel. * Occasional travel may be required * Position also required to drive a box truck which is 26 feet.
