What You'll Do:

Ohio Department of Public Safety

  • Director's Office/Human Resources (Learning & Development)

Report in location: 1970 West Broad Street, Columbus, Ohio 43223

Work hours: 8:00 a.m.

  • 5:00 p.m.

(CURRENTLY HYBRID ELIGIBLE) Will report into office 3 days a week and telework 2 days a week (May be subject to change)

Under the direction of the Learning & Professional Development Manager, within the Ohio Department of Public Safety (ODPS), develops, programs, researches, implements, plans, & designs technology-based learning activities & user tests incorporating adult learning theory & independently analyzes training & non- training performance needs, makes recommendations for performance improvements & independently asses effectiveness of training; Coordinates project management for technology-based training projects (e.g., identifies subject matter experts (SME) & observes &/or interviews them to develop information for use in instructional design; conducts research & recommends most appropriate learning strategy & type of technology &/or media to be used; drafts &/or revises training objectives, content, & instructional related materials; selects appropriate measurements for performance & training effectiveness; Provides technology-based solutions for blended learning & virtual instructor-led training courses; etc.); Utilizes multimedia software &/or applications (i.e., Articulate Storyline, Articulate Rise 360, Adobe Creative Suite, Lectora Inspire, Camtasia, CourseMill, & Ohio Learn) to design & develop the overall architecture, usability & functionality of web- based training programs (e.g., programs &/or writes code for technology based training; creates &/or integrates graphics, text, & interactive multi-media in learning materials; records voiceovers & narrations for online course content; etc.) & to deploy & track online training courses & registration for instructor led courses conducted in person or virtual.

Oversees & manages the departments web-based learning management system, Public Safety Training Campus (PSTC) (e.g., implements, installs & maintains computer-based trainings, web-based trainings, online testing & assessments, & electronic discussion groups; performs quality control &/or user acceptance testing; diagnoses & helps resolve problems learners have with technology-based trainings, compatibility & browser issues; coordinates with technical staff regarding system issues; schedules classes & technology-based trainings; assist users with course enrollment; etc.); Manages training for Department trainers & employees in the learning management system; Designs, develops, tests, implements, & maintains electronic performance support systems (e.g., wizards, online help systems, online documentation), using advanced software tools; Makes minor repairs &/or adjustments to & troubleshoots equipment & software used for designing, developing, & delivering training; Responds to user inquiries & complaints by MS Teams, telephone, in writing, or electronically.

Assists with the development of technology-based training policies & procedures; Attends & participates in meetings, sub committees, workshops & trainings; Reviews books & publications for professional & competency development as a technology-based trainer & to keep abreast of changes in training needs; Disseminates information relative to training being offered; Performs other duties as assigned (e.g., maintains records & files; prepares correspondence &/or reports; answers inquiries regarding training policies & procedures &/or using & creating technology based trainings; researches technology-based training; etc.).

Completion of undergraduate core program in education to include student teaching or 2 yrs. trg. or 2 yrs. exp. in assessing, researching, designing, developing, evaluating & delivering instruction & associated materials for adult learners; 2 yrs. trg. or 2 yrs. exp. in use of software &/or application systems to create & deliver technology-based training (e.g., Authorware; Articulate; Captivate; CourseMill; Dreamweaver; Lectora; MOODLE); 18 mos. trg. or 18 mos. exp. using Microsoft Word or Wordperfect; 1 yr. trg. or 1 yr. exp. creating web pages using programming languages (e.g., html; dhtml; xml; Javascript; CSS); 6 mos. trg. or 6 mos. exp. in web art manipulation programs (e.g., Fireworks; Shockwave; Flash; Photoshop).

  • Or equivalent of Minimum Class Qualifications for Employment noted above.
