What you'll be doing...

This opportunity is for Military personnel who are current participants of Hiring Our Heroes Corporate Fellowship Program Cohort 1-2021.

Driving continuous improvement is what we are all about and you will support our efforts through providing objective evaluations of our technology processes to make us better. You'll gain exposure to the diverse aspects of our business through collaborating with different business leaders related to our technology controls, processes, and systems. The work you perform is critical to reducing risk and providing solutions that protect our company, our employees and our shareholders.

  • Developing and executing technology-based audits and IT and application control assessments during complex business process reviews.

  • Learning the functions being audited to verify the effectiveness of existing technology controls.

  • Identifying technology control risks to improve process effectiveness.

  • Developing action plans and communicating concise recommendations to management.

  • Identifying risks associated with new technology.

  • Participating in department initiatives to further develop the Internal Audit function.

You'll need to have:

  • Must be a current participant of Hiring our Heroes Corporate Fellowship Program Cohort 1-2021.

  • Bachelor's degree or four or more years of work experience.

  • Four or more years of relevant work experience.

  • IT auditing experience in at least one of the following areas: IT security administration, UNIX, Linux, or Windows platforms system administration, IT Architect, network security, network administration, network operation center experience and/or SAP and/or PeopleSoft technical support knowledge.

  • Experience applying technical knowledge in at least one of the following areas: IT operations or application reviews, network operations or security audits, SSAE16 or PCI compliance engagements and/or ERP security and control reviews (Oracle, SAP, PeopleSoft).

  • Knowledge of networks technology, operating systems, midrange platforms, personal computers, system development, client/server architecture.

  • Willingness to travel up to 25%.

Even better if you have:

  • Bachelor's degree in Management Information Systems, Computer Science, or related technical field.

  • CISA and/or CISSP certification.

  • Experience with ACL, Idea, Oracle, Microsoft SQL Server, Visual Basic, Microsoft.NET framework, Microsoft Access, SQL, Microsoft Exchange, or Hyperion applications.

  • Technology Audit experience in a Public Accounting firm.

This position is responsible for the preparation of tax returns, conducting research and interpreting statutes and laws, working with accounting and surcharge analysis and other related tasks. Responsibilities: * Responsible for handling thewirelinecompliance process for the Regulatory Team. * Work with, understand and prepare Regulatory filings which include those filed with thePUC, State Regulatory Agencies and third party fund administrators for all Verizon owned companies to ensure that they are accurately and timely filed in accordance with applicable laws, regulations, judicial decisions, and rulings. * Work on and manage projects that include implementation of cost savings strategies and process improvements to enhance the compliance process. * Work with the accounting aspect of the Regulatory function, including assistance with preparation of account reconciliations, review of accrual journal entries and understanding and monitoring the surcharges and expenses related to this tax type. * Prepare payments and manage the liabilities and expenses related to the tax returns; work with AP, Treasury and various in-house payment systems. * Compile the annual budget and monthly cash forecasts. * Assist with analysis related to mergers and acquisitions (including due diligence and computing purchase price adjustments). * Ensuring adherence to allSOXcontrols. * Assist with all Regulatory related audits, as needed. * Conduct research as needed, including the tax impact to all Regulatory filings with the addition of any new products and services. * Focus on identifying process improvements and streamlining existing procedures. What we're looking for... You'll need to have: * Must be a current participant of Hiring our Heroes Corporate Fellowship Program Cohort 1-2021. * Bachelor's Degree or four or more years of working experience. * 4 or more years of related experience. * Experience with tax research, tax accounting,SOXprocesses, telecommunication taxes, and tax saving strategies. * The ability to prioritize deliverables with competingtimelines. * Candidate must be comfortable in accurately managing deadlines. * The position will interface with tax legal, tax technology, tax compliance, tax research and other business groups. * The position also requires an understanding of tax law, compliance procedures, accrual methodology, and tax initiatives. * Must have solid oral, written and analytical skills. * Should possess the ability to work equally well both independently and while working within a team. * Advanced computer skills (ie:PowerQuery). * Project management skills. Even better if you have: * Familiarity with the data requirements needed for the preparation and filing of tax returns. (ie: knowledge of billing systems, etc.) * A knowledge of various tax systems, such asCCH,RIA, and Vertex. * Previous exposure toPeopleSoftor SAP (or other major General Ledger Suite Software). * Working knowledge of artificial intelligence (ie: "BOTS") technical skills. * Prior experience handling audits and replying to State and Local Auditor IDR's. * CPA or MS in Taxation.
