TITLE: Technology Assistant - Full-time
SUMMARY: Reporting to the Director of Instructional Technology and Student Information Systems, the Technology Assistant is responsible for assisting the District with the day-to-day operations of the District's technology infrastructure, network, data collection, storage and manipulation, and hardware/software support.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Maintains a working knowledge of all aspects of the district network infrastructure, installing new switching, and troubleshooting network problems.
Installs and configures new computer hardware and software.
Assists in providing support to staff and students in the use of network computers, computer labs and their resources.
Monitors and tests network connections as needed.
Assesses and report hardware and software needs to the Director of Technology.
Provides emergency response to mission critical system failures as deemed necessary by the Director of Technology.
Maintains network and computer hardware in good condition through preventative maintenance measures and performing repairs.
Assists the Director in maintaining various systems critical to the District.
Assists in maintaining the inventory of hardware and software in an organized manner.
Acquires and possesses a thorough knowledge of the school system, staff members, practices, policies, and procedures.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Education and Experience
Bachelor's Degree preferred. High School graduate or equivalent required.
High School education must be supplemented by courses in information technology or management of information systems. Minimum of three to four years of related experience preferred.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Knowledge of computer hardware and peripherals, computer networks, software applications, and virtual server and desktop environment.
Skills-based competencies include excellent communication and interpersonal skills while working with staff and students.
Ability-based competencies include learning a variety of applications and maintaining confidentiality with regard to staff and students.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
While performing the duties of the job, the employee may be required to remain in a stationary position for extended periods; lift and move up to 30 lbs.; and position oneself to manipulate computer equipment. Accommodations may be made for individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
This job is performed in a generally clean and healthy indoor school or office environment.
