Performs radiological diagnostic procedures. Operates diagnostic equipment, develops film and prepares the room with the necessary equipment and supplies for the procedure. Secondary duties include ordering supplies, stocking the department, and conducting quality control on equipment.

DUTIES INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO: Performs timely radiology procedures for subsequent evaluation and treatment by attending physician. Provides patient care based upon evaluation of the patient.

Performs necessary quality control procedures to ensure quality exams are performed. Maintains patient comfort and adheres to proper safety procedures. Contributes to the teamwork, philosophy of the Department/Office.

Adheres to and practices appropriate Infection Control Policies and Procedures. Assumes responsibility for maintaining and improving diagnostic imaging knowledge and skills with the support and assistance of outside educational resources. Assists in maintaining budgeted supply expense.

Responsible for maintaining current licensure and certification for the facility radiology equipment and licensure.

The ability to assume the responsibility for on-going professional development. EDUCATION - This job requires a degree from an approved x-ray program. EXPERIENCE - Two years training in an accredited school for Radiology Technology, basic x-ray experience and trauma work is required.  CERTIFICATE/LICENSE - ARRT and appropriate state licensure CPR Certification.

Technologist performs high quality imaging in a safe and efficient manner per radiology practice standards. Demonstrates professional knowledge and judgement interpreting orders and applying imaging protocols. Technologist provides patients with the utmost attention to their medical needs, their dignity, comfort and safety per outpatient medical imaging center policy. Consistently applies imaging protocols and radiation safety measures for patients, staff and self as outlined in office protocols and regulatory guidelines. Operates, monitors and maintains radiographic and fluoroscopic equipment, room inventory and facilities to specific standards. Oversees radiologic areas to ensure compliance with bloodborne pathogen policy, drug security and emergency preparedness. Ably assists radiologists in fluoroscopy, interventional and emergency response procedures. Communicates effectively and works cooperatively with others. Demonstrates knowledge of customer service concepts and outpatient medical imaging center policies. Clinical Services - Provides clinical services according to radiology practice standards and acts as a resource to radiography students and other technologists to ensure optimal department functions. Patient Care - Administers sound patient care practice according to hospital and department policies and procedures, to ensure the safety of the patients. Protection/Safety - Demonstrates radiation protection/safety for patients, staff and self as outlined in department protocols and regulatory guidelines, to ensure the safety of the patients and staff. ARRT must be obtained within 1 year of hire: BLS Licensure * Must be licensed as required by the state of employment if employed at an INOVA free standing Imaging Center not affiliated with one of the INOVA Hospitals Special Skills * Effective interpersonal skills, ability to multi task and make clinical decisions to facilitate patient care.
