Responsibilities
Under general direction, the Technologist Assistant assists staff technologist by transporting patients utilizing proper Infection Control and safety practices, scheduling examinations, and other related duties. The Technologist Assistant demonstrates competent knowledge and skills to assure that the assessment of care is appropriate to the age of the patients served: neonates, infants, pediatrics, adolescents, adults and geriatrics.
Essential Functions:
Communicates with nursing unit, upon request for transport, regarding mode of transportation and special instructions in order to provide quality patient care to the neonate, infant, pediatric, adolescent, adult and geriatric patient.
Notifies nursing staff charged with patients care of pending transport of patient prior to entering patient's room.
Transports the neonate, infant, pediatric, adolescent, adult and geriatric patient utilizing proper equipment according to the patient's needs and medical condition.
Confirms patients identity by checking patient's identification band, as well as verbally confirming identity.
Presents all patient paperwork to the reception desk. Delivers patient's medical chart as requested in order to expedite radiographic studies.
Assists the technologist with duties that are required.
Provides clean linen for each transport assignment, including blankets to assure patient comfort for neonate, infant, pediatric, adolescent, adult and geriatric patient served.
Cleans all radiology transport equipment weekly and documents it.
Reports any equipment malfunction to the Manager within 10 minutes of problem detection.
Must be able to locate all necessary supplies for patient transport requirements.
Schedule: Per diem, evening hours and weekend hours to support department
Qualifications
Education and Experience: High School Diploma/GED, preferred
Current enrollment in a Radiologic Technologist Program, preferred
