Diesel Technician/Mechanic

As a Diesel Technician/Mechanic, you will provide accurate and efficient services to customers by troubleshooting, diagnosing, and repairing heavy duty semi-truck trailers in a safe, reasonable and responsible manner. You will be required to have a "whatever needs to be done" work ethic and attitude, be mechanically inclined, and a team player with neat clean appearance.

You should be self-motivated, dependable and work well with others. Qualified candidates must possess a high school diploma or GED; completed a technical education or have verifiable work experience as a truck or automobile mechanic/technician.

State and/or ASE certifications are preferred and may be required. Driver's License is also required as we perform onsite Mobile Maintenance and Road Calls Nationwide.

Preferred candidates have knowledge and experience working on commercial truck tires, preventive maintenance, air brake, electrical and air conditioning systems.

Some janitorial work is required by all employees to maintain a clean and safe work environment.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES & TASKS * Mechanic will need to ensure that all necessary repairs and scheduled preventative maintenance work requests are carried out on his assigned 12 hour shift. * This position will require the mechanic to report to and take direct orders from the plant manager. When unsupervised, the successful applicant will fulfill written work orders left by his immediate supervisors and also respond promptly to priority work requests from Production Foremen, to ensure that production has full support from the Maintenance Department. * Mechanic will assist other members of the Maintenance Department to implement a rigorous preventative maintenance program as well as a predictive maintenance program to minimize the plant's downtime. * Mechanic will establish and maintain a productive relationship with all members of his shift, i.e. Production Supervisors, Operators and Material Handlers. As an important part of this production team you will be responsible for all types of mechanical and minor electrical repairs that will ensure that production requirements are met. * Mechanic will participate in the Company's Health & Safety, 6s housekeeping and environmental programs throughout the plant. * Mechanic will use experience of troubleshooting and repairing all mechanical systems, including hydraulics, pneumatics and conveying systems, as required while on shift. As well as: maintaining and repairing, will become involved in improving the durability of machinery and efficiency of the process * Any parts that have been removed or replaced will be tagged for repair "in house" or contracted out. You will make the Lead Hand Mechanic aware of these repairs in writing in the "Shift Log Report". MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS * Good communication skills. * Proven record of teamwork & leadership skills. * You will possess a thorough knowledge of all types of mechanical conveying systems along with the basic knowledge of hydraulic and pneumatic systems. * 5-10 years' experience in an industrial environment you will also possess basic knowledge of Electrical, Pipefitting, Welding and Plumbing skills. * Knowledge of P.L.C.'s.
