General Job Description
Maintaining a modern paleomagnetic-rock magnetic laboratory is critical for the mission of the Geology discipline to maintain an active student-oriented research program, to provide a much needed service laboratory for PhD granting institutions nationally and internationally, and facilitate service revenue generation via local, state, and federal agency contract work. This vision aligns with the department and the university strategic plan. Student applicants must be graduates of the IRES experience.
Specific Duties
TECHNICIAN RESPONSIBILITIES: The student work study will serve in multiple roles to assist with the operation of the paleomagnetic-rock magnetic laboratory.
Conduct analyses using all laboratory instruments following extensive training by the lab manager and standard lab preparation of samples.
Maintain a daily log of YOUR research activities.
Managing confidential information.
Updating the on-line literature database on specific projects as needed.
Establish and maintain a GIS database of studies conducted in the laboratory.
Preparing records, Writing reports, Creating videos
Maintain regular attendance
Perform other job duties as assigned
Minimum Qualifications
Education: Student applicants must be graduates of the IRES experience.
Experience: Previous experience in research.
Preferred Qualifications Physical Demands
Frequently: Standing, Walking, Bending, Squatting, Kneeling, Repetitive hand motion, Prolonged use of computer. Occasionally: Lifting a minimum of thirty (30) pounds, Climbing.
Hourly Rate $14.00/ Hour Preferred Work Schedule Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday Employment Term Summer
