Xencor is an innovative, clinical-stage biotechnology company located in the Los Angeles area (near Pasadena). We are developing engineered monoclonal antibodies for the treatment of cancer, autoimmune diseases, asthma and allergic diseases. Our capabilities and the modular nature of our technology allows us to quickly identify and create new platforms and drug candidates for clinical development. Currently, 14 candidates engineered with Xencor's XmAb technology are in clinical development internally and with partners (such as Novartis, Amgen and Genentech). Our XmAb antibody engineering technology enables small changes to the structure of monoclonal antibodies resulting in new mechanisms of therapeutic action. The first antibody that incorporates an XmAb technology has been approved for commercial marketing in the United States.

The Sample Management Technician is responsible for receiving and processing human and animal biological samples, specimens, and test/control articles in the laboratory following established Xencor procedures. The duties listed below are illustrations of the various types of work that may be performed. The omission of specific statements of duties does not exclude them from the position if the work is similar, related or a logical assignment for this position. The following list of responsibilities will be performed under the general direction of the Supervisor.

Responsibilities:

  • Receiving and processing human and animal biological samples and critical reagents according to standard laboratory procedures

  • Evaluating the integrity of the samples/ materials upon receipt in the laboratory

  • Quarantining samples/ materials if receiving outside of approved conditions

  • Enter the samples into Xencor sample management system

  • Resolving all quarantined sample issues

  • Applying bar-coded labels to sample, specimen and critical reagents

  • Adhering to all Laboratory Safety policies and standards

  • Performing appropriate storage, chain of custody activities, and disposition of samples

  • Adhering to all approved Xencor SOP

  • Identifying and communicating issues to the Laboratory Management

  • Reporting any issues of deviation or nonconformance with procedure

  • Assist in identifying and correcting the root cause of recurring issues or deviations

  • Maintaining supplies related to QC laboratory and daily assignments

  • Prepare shipments and stage materials

  • Serve as verifier on the final packaging steps

  • Contributing to the continuous improvement activities of the laboratory and sample management

  • Support Sample, Specimen, and Critical Reagent Management

  • Filing receiving documentations according to Xencor policies and procedures

  • Other responsibilities as assigned by direct supervisor

Qualifications/Requirements:

  • Minimum of a High School Diploma or the equivalent from an accredited program

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, and Outlook)

o Sample Management Software (eg, Freezerworks), desired.

  • Ability to understand and follow all regulatory requirements as well as approved Xencor procedures and policies

  • Knowledge and training in the cGMPs, desired but not required
