Position Summary

The Plant Operator s responsible for operating sewage, FOG, and sludge waste processing dewatering and disposal equipment in processing plant to produce quality, effluent water in compliance with federal, state and local requirements.

This is a unique opportunity to be part of a facility that turns what would otherwise be waste liquids into useable water and materials to generate power and provide resources to the local community and our customers!

While prior experience in this field is welcome, we will train you!

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Monitors control panels and makes adjustments to the plant operations as needed.

  • Observes variations in operating conditions and reports variations to supervisor including instruments, meter and gauge readings and test results needed to monitor process control.

  • Responsible for operating equipment associated with receiving, headworks, pH chemical addition, filtering, pressing and sludge processing etc.

  • Accurately and neatly maintains plant log of all operations events and important parameters.

  • Conducts routine plant laboratory tests: pH and conductivity etc.

  • Ensures that pumps, valves, instruments and other plant equipment and other waste water treatment equipment are functioning properly.

  • Monitors equipment for potential failures and report any issues may make or assist in minor repairs or adjustments as needed.

  • Maintain plant facility and all equipment in clean orderly and neat manner.

  • Perform supervised or directed plant maintenance and cleaning, including but not limited to: troubleshooting, repairs, preventative maintenance of plant equipment.

  • Calibration, cleaning and documentation of process instrumentation like Conductivity, pH, Temp and other meters and instruments as needed.

  • Perform and document daily plant process parameters, testing results and discharge volumes etc. including collecting all necessary samples for testing at our in-house laboratory and outside laboratories as required.

  • Hook up and unload tractor trailers, and pump trucks, as needed and conducting necessary sampling and testing and processing disposal tickets.

  • Observes variations in operating conditions and reports meter and gauge readings and test results as needed to determine process control needs.

  • Ensures that pumps, valves, instruments, boiler and other plant equipment and other waste water treatment equipment are functioning properly.

  • Monitors equipment for potential failures and may make minor repairs or adjustments as needed.

Work Environment

  • You are regularly exposed outside weather conditions, non-hazardous fumes and noise

  • Must be comfortable working independently

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Ability to read and interpret documents including Company policies and procedures, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, maps and road signs.

  • Ability to speak, cooperate and communicate effectively with customers, co-workers and management.

  • Ability to work independently and manage pressure to meet deadlines.

  • Basic computer literacy including email and internet skills.

  • Ability to perform basic math functions.

Required Qualifications

  • Must have a valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record

  • Prior experience working in a fleet or transportation industry is required

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office -Excel, Outlook is preferred

  • Strong time-management/organizational skills

  • Strong attention to detail

  • Maintain a high level of integrity and make ethical decisions

  • Must be able to operate in a drug-free workplace

  • Must be able to meet physical demands evaluation
