POSITION OVERVIEW:

Works with RN, to indirectly care for patients in the Hospital from admission to discharge. Under the direct supervision of the registered/licensed nurse, Works with RN and C.N.A. to assist with patients in the Hospital from admission to discharge. Responsible for ongoing surveillance of patient cardiac monitors and provides RNs and/or clinicians with immediate notification of any changes in cardiac rhythms.

EDUCATION:

  • High School Diploma or GED

  • Successful completion of the basic dysrhythmia test with a minimum of 90% accuracy, identifying all lethal rhythms with 100% accuracy.

  • Basic cardiac rhythm and computer course, preferred.

EXPERIENCE:

  • Minimum one year experience in acute care setting, preferred.

  • Previous Monitor Tech experience greater than one year, preferred.

LICENSE/CERTIFICATION

  • MT CNA, preferred.
  • ACLS certification, preferred.
  • PALS certification, preferred.

KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES

  • Medical Terminology

  • Basic anatomy/physiology of the heart, and basic cardiac rhythms.

  • Clear and concise communication skills.

  • Keyboarding Skills.

  • Basic office skills.

  • Basic patient care.

  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff, clinicians, and other health team professionals.

  • Ability to accept responsibility for accuracy and response times to emergence and non-emergent requests.
