Position overview:

3rd Shift (9:30pm-6:00am)

This position is responsible for the maintenance and repair of all production machinery, utility machinery, facility maintenance and maintenance record keeping related to manufacturing and production. This is a third shift position, however, the candidate must be able to work other shifts as dictated by Maintenance Department needs. The individual must be able to work independently and meet required workloads in a timely manner. The individual must be able to diagnose machinery and specify proper repair procedures to ensure production efficiencies, including electrical/electronic control repairs and requirements.

What you'll do:

  • Diagnose and repair malfunctions of machinery.

  • Determine maintenance requirements for the production machinery and equipment.

  • Perform mechanical adjustments to machinery to ensure efficient and quality production.

  • Perform installations and related projects under the guidance of the Engineering & Maintenance Manager.

  • Maintain the Maintenance Database, PM programs, stock system and related shop records.

  • Record all daily work performed in the Computerized Maintenance Management System.

  • Provide Engineering & Maintenance Manager with weekly updates related to projects and breakdowns

  • Train on the maintenance and operation of all production machinery.

  • Perform adjustments to machinery with various control switches, dials, buttons, PLC's, etc.

  • Assist and train production personnel, as required.

  • Perform routine Preventative Maintenance on all production machinery as required.

  • 30 minutes before the end of an 8 hour shift, he or she will assist in organizing and cleaning the shop before leaving

  • Perform all work in accordance with Metagenics Safety and Maintenance Standard Operating procedures. Periodically review these procedures as required.

What you'll need:

Experience / Training / Education

  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • 5 to 7 years related experience in a machine maintenance position
  • 3 to 5 years related experience as an electrician or apprentice electrician (preferred). Basic knowledge of electrical theory and safe work practices a must

Knowledge of

  • Knowledge of mechanics and machinery operation

  • Mechanical and Electrical blue print reading a must

  • Ability to operate and adjust production machinery safely

  • Previous Manufacturing experience

  • Record keeping in a manufacturing/maintenance environment

  • Strong organizational knowledge


  • Power lift equipment, forklifts, man-lifts, scissors lifts, rigging equipment, etc.

  • Welding equipment and all hand power tools

  • Working knowledge of PM procedures and schedules

  • Test meters and gauges both pneumatic and electrical

  • Strong understanding of pneumatics, mechanical, dust collection and plumbing

  • Strong understanding of electrical controls, theory and general codes (three phase and single phase applications

  • Typing, Microsoft office (excel, word), good written and verbal communication skills

  • Trouble shooting skills related to production and manufacturing equipment in all aspects

  • The ability to organize PM schedules, work orders and maintain related records

Physical requirements/working conditions:

  • Sits at a computer station, meeting table or work desk for more than two-thirds of each day

  • Stands and walks to other stations and departments throughout the day

  • Uses hands and fingers to operate computers and office equipment most of the day

  • May stoop or crouch to access files or storage

  • Requires clear vision at 20 inches or less with or without corrective lenses

  • Hearing and speech within normal ranges and sufficient for clear communication face to face and especially via the telephone

  • Lifts up to 10 pounds regularly; lifts 25 pounds occasionally

  • Exposed to noise levels typical of office environments

Mental and reasoning requirements:

  • Uses critical thinking skills to work with documents and spreadsheets and interpret information furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form. Able to review complex documents like contracts and leases. Able to review quantitative and qualitative work and identify questionable items

  • Expert problem-solving and data-analysis skills

  • Able to set goals based on available information and to plan work in order to meet deadlines

  • Able to formulate appropriate responses to requests for data, services and information from internal or external customers with a wide range of personalities and demeanors

  • Able to project likely future occurrences based on current or historical data

  • Able to work independently and react quickly to changing priorities with a consistent sense of urgency
