Basic Function

The La Porte Complex is seeking a Maintenance I/E Technician to join our dynamic team. In this position, you will be tasked to apply technical expertise daily to insure the safe and reliable operation of site equipment and to reduce operating costs by executing assigned work according to plan and schedule, noting any job plan deviations, and providing input on improvement opportunities. You will participate in reliability teams to identify and implement reliability driven improvements and committees dealing with investigations, policy and procedure development.

Roles & Responsibilities

Accountable for personal safety, the safety of co-workers and promoting a safe work environment; responsible for carrying out all work activities in compliance with federal and state environmental regulations.

Provides technical expertise in the installation, acceptance testing, commissioning, pro-active maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of unit equipment including:

Transformers, breakers and other power distribution equipment, motor starters, motors, etc.

Level instruments, flow and pressure instruments, control valves, PLC's and other process and machinery control systems.

Maintenance to site process equipment

Executes scheduled work by:

Reviewing assigned job scopes for completeness and understanding.

Acquiring all necessary parts, tools, and instructions prior to starting the job to maximize work efficiency.

Following all necessary safety procedures and practices to isolate, clear, and work on plant equipment.

Ensuring work is completed per company and industry standards.

Working with equipment owner to complete task in a safe and timely manner.

Updating supervisor on job progress and any problems encountered in completing the defined scope of work.

Completing all documentation using a computerized maintenance management system.

Respond to tasks as directed by maintenance supervision with the appropriate sense of urgency to minimize impact to process units.

Identify and implement reliability driven improvements. This may include participation in site reliability teams.

Participates on committees dealing with investigations, policy and procedure development, and improving the work place environment.

Candidate will also be required to mentor other mechanical maintenance technicians when necessary.

Engages in frequent developmental dialog with supervisor and others to continually enhance personal and group performance and development.

Promotes an environment in which everyone is treated with respect.

  • Min. Qualifications

    High School diploma or GED.

    Understanding of equipment design and application for various types of electrical and/or instrumentation: pressure, temperature, level and flow devices, transformers, motor starters, circuit breakers, control circuits, etc..

    Fundamental understanding of specification sheets, loop diagrams, and P&ID's, is required. Technical skills testing will be performed during the hiring process to ensure minimum requirements are met.

    Additionally, the candidate:

Must be willing and able to provide overtime coverage

Must be able to read, write, and speak the English language

Must be willing and able to work occasional plant call-outs

Preferred Qualifications

Minimum 2 years of maintenance experience in both instrument and electrical crafts in an industrial environment

    NCCER certification or an associate's degree from an accredited college or trade school or recognized

Basic Job Function Provide planning and onsite support to the LaPorte, TX plant, with a strong focus on critical safety systems and system reliability. Be willing to travel to other plants in the region to assist in duties of day to day and turnaround opportunities. Perform calibrations, troubleshooting, repairs, and instrumentation installations as required. Performs all of the administrative and reporting tasks of the position including: * Maintaining, operating, and maintenance history for all equipment as may be required. * Preparing and maintaining documentation such as EAM work orders, Contractor Service Reports, and equipment calibration records as required by Procal Instrumentation Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS). Daily Duties * Maintain a high degree of personal safety and environmental awareness at all times. * Troubleshooting, calibration, and maintenance of pneumatic, electronic, analog, and digital process control instrumentation. * Troubleshoot/Repair Predictive program instrumentation and document instrumentation repair history in the CMMS system as required by site specific documentation. * Troubleshoot systems utilizing Schematic Wiring Diagrams (SWD) and Process & Instrumentation Diagrams (P&ID) as they relate to process control. * Troubleshooting, maintenance, and minor repair of low voltage electrical systems (600VAC and below). * Day to day Process Analytical Equipment Calibration and Maintenance, types of which may include: Thermal Conductivity, Flame Ionization, Paramagnetic, Electrolytic, Fuel Cell, and Gas Chromatography process analyzers. * Schedule and perform activities related to the operation and maintenance of electrical and electronic control systems, pneumatic instrumentation, control valves, motor control systems, low voltage electrical distribution, computer interfaces, and analytical equipment. * Troubleshooting, Maintenance, Repair/Replacement of Automatic Control Valves. * Ensure replacement spare parts are available or replaced once installed. * Personnel will have to climb ladders, stairways, and operate man-lifts for elevated instrumentation and control valve maintenance. * Personnel will have to instruct contract personnel on safety rules, regulations, and maintain constant surveillance to assure their compliance at all times. * Personnel will have "On Call" periodically. They must carry a company cell phone for availability while on call and at other times. * Personnel must have a valid state issued driver license in good standing with the issuing state.
