Technician Lead Production

What you'll do:

  • Autoclave Work Center:

  • Ensure all quality criteria of jobs are met in the Autoclave lab, and the program schedule needs are met

  • Work with Mfg Shops Supervisor and Manager to ensure lab is adequately staffed to meet business needs, and that staff is effectively trained

  • Collaborate with the scheduling team to understand daily schedule; assign daily tasks to the team to execute this work.

  • Primary POC for all lab operations

  • Find value added tasks for team to perform when workload is slow

  • Ensure 6S routines are in place and effective for the lab

  • Identify and help implement continuous improvement initiatives for the lab/department

  • Interface with internal and external customers

  • Collaborate with other leads to effectively cross-train team in Autoclave and other work centers

  • Work with engineering to understand root cause and corrective action for hardware anomalies

  • Maintain compliance with all requirements, including (but not limited to): EHS, NQA, material consumption; POC for lab audits (internal and external)

  • Involvement in identifying and commissioning new capabilities

  • Position requires strong attention to detail and compliance to industry, environmental, health and safety standards.

  • Position requires ability to read and interpret mechanical blue prints to determine bonding requirements

  • Bag assemblies to prepare for autoclave bonding

  • Operate autoclave vessels

  • Unbag assemblies after bonding

  • Lay-up assemblies and prepare for bagging operations

  • Help develop staffing and training plan for the autoclaves to staff the expansion and existing work centers.

  • Develop analytical reports to support monthly matrix charts.

  • Support other Manufacturing Shops and Service Centers as needed/available, including but not limited to:

  • Flashcut work center:

  • Perform all tasks associated with preparing, cutting, packaging, and delivery of materials cut on the Flashcut machine (primarily film adhesives

  • Paint:

  • Work with solvents, acids and bases, and using personal protective equipment, gloves, safety glasses and use of a respirator is required. Must understand and comply with all safety and environmental regulations.

  • Position requires strong attention to detail and compliance to industry, environmental, health and safety standards.

  • Position requires ability to read and interpret mechanical blue prints to determine masking and painting requirements.

  • Core duties include, but are not limited to: surface preparation for painting operations; application of paint coatings; detailed masking; operation of paint equipment and ovens; and, preparation of paint for application to hardware.

  • Position requires ability to perform work area maintenance activities including area organization, chemical handling and chemical replenishment

  • Printed Circuit (PC) work center:

  • Perform a variety of tasks associated with the manufacture of Printed Antenna Boards (PAB's) and preparation of materials/products for subsequent bonding and painting operations. Handle, dispense, transport, mix and work with lab chemicals, hazardous materials and hazardous waste products.

What you'll need:

  • High School diploma or equivalent plus 14 years or more related experience or a related 2-year technical degree and 12 years or more related experience.

  • Each higher-level related degree, i.e., Bachelor's or Master's, may substitute for two years of related experience. Degree must be from a university, college, or school which is accredited by an agency recognized by the US Secretary of Education, US Department of Education.

Working Conditions:

  • Work is performed in an office environment, laboratory, clean room, or production floor.

  • Travel and local commute between Ball campuses and other possible non-Ball locations may be required.

Security Clearance:

Successful applicant for this position must be eligible to obtain a DoD clearance or government customer access to classified/sensitive material. A current DoD clearance is not required to be eligible for this position, however the successful applicant will be required to obtain a DoD clearance or government customer access within a reasonable time after the offer is extended and must be able to maintain the applicable clearance. *US Citizenship is Required.
