We are looking for an experienced Technician to join our Engineering Robotics Team to support one of top clients in Bay area (Fremont). The person will support lab operation, manage inventory, and communicate with facility team.

This is a full-time, long term benefited position with competitive compensation.

Responsibilities

Responsibilities:

  • Assist with buildup, repair, and diagnosis of individual units from our robotics platform

  • Assist with prototyping and "hacks" to support sustaining engineering and R&D

  • Assist with system configuration, moving units between locations, and setting up test environments

  • Assist with creating documentation for robot assembly, configuration, and repair

  • Assume primary management of the robotics lab facility in Fremont, including maintenance, space planning, and fabrication of robot test environment elements

  • Maintain shop equipment such as drill press, bandsaw, milling machine, sander, brake, etc.

  • Organize and maintain stock levels of materials and fasteners

  • Work with facilities as needed for additional buildouts, equipment installation, reconfiguration, etc.

  • Manage storage organization and waste disposal

  • Coordinate with logistics to facilitate shipping and receiving

  • Support team where necessary, including:

  • Field maintenance

  • Working with CMs

  • Understanding of product development processes (BOMs, PLM, etc.)

Qualifications

Qualifications:

  • Advanced proficiency using shop tools for fabrication, including manual and power tools for metal fabrication, as well as common fixed tools such as drill press, bandsaw, milling machine, sander, brake, etc.

  • Experience deploying and maintaining complex electromechanical systems

  • Ability to learn new applications and systems, quickly

  • Experience maintaining common metalworking shop tools

  • Ability to identify and work with multiple contacts within an organization to get tasks accomplished

Preferred Requirements

  • Experience coordinating with architects, space planners, and engineers on building design and remodeling projects

  • Linux experience (including drivers and settings for audio and networking)

  • Technical degree at the Bachelor's level.

Job Responsibilities Located in Fremont, CA. The Senior PDL Technician in the Product Development Group of ALAM is part of the part of a larger team focused on developing new and enabling products for ALAM. He/she will play an essential role in ensuring the lab is running safely and smoothly, and supporting chemists to synthesize, purify, analyze and package the emerging products for customers. Responsibilities include but are not limited to: * Lead the safety operations in PDL lab by taking on active safety roles in the R&D lab * Independently synthesize small volume chemicals to meet customer demands * Build new reactor/distillation systems for pilot scale small volume chemical (SVC) operations * Independently conduct various routine operations such as synthesis, purification and analytical processes * Support R&D and analytical chemists with lab operations such as synthesis, purification and analysis * Independently run routine operation of analytical instruments such as TG, density, viscosity, TSU, GC, GC-MS and FTIR * Troubleshoot analytical instruments for routine maintenance and other issues * Follow the guidelines and best practices related to lab notebooks, data storage and backup * Write work instructions, communicate experimental summary and conduct safety reviews * Actively participate on ALAM's emergency response (ER) team including as an ER entry team member which requires wearing of a tight fitting full face respirator * Work with material considered to be hazardous * Successfully completes all assigned trainings and tasks Required Qualifications * BS degree in Chemistry or Chemical Engineering, or 5+ years of similar industrial experience * Experience with the handling of air and moisture sensitive molecules, and hazardous and pyrophoric chemicals including both gases and liquids * Good communication skills * A team player that puts safety first * Motivated to gradually take on additional responsibilities and to continue education * Must be and remain clean shaven and able to wear a full face tight fitting respirator and a fully encapsulated (Level A) ER suit. * Ability to work overtime * Ability to lift and carry 10 lbs * Preferred Qualifications * Experience with scaling up synthesis to KG scale and above is a major plus * Good mechanical skills with experience building and assembling manifolds, reactor systems, and distillation set-up * Experience with handling and packaging solids is preferred * Experience with electronic materials for semiconductor applications is highly preferred * Experience with the handling of air and moisture sensitive molecules, and hazardous and pyrophoric chemicals including both gases and liquids * Experience with analytical techniques such as TG, density, viscosity, TSU, GC and FTIR Air Liquide Fremont CA
