Position Summary

The purpose of the position is to provide technical, field and lab support to the Grodsky Lab for projects involving insect ecology and conservation and renewable energy ecology. The primary responsibilities of the position include field sampling of invertebrates, sorting and curating invertebrate specimens, processing bioacoustics data, insect identification, assistance with the preparation of reports, manuscripts, and web products, and engagement with Grodsky Lab members.

Required Qualifications

  • Experience in and/or demonstrated commitment to supporting diversity, equity, access, inclusion, and wellbeing.

  • Ability to cultivate and develop inclusive and equitable working relationships with students, faculty, staff, and community members.

  • Bachelor's degree in entomology or related field and 2 to 4 years' experience working with insects - collection, ID, curation, or equivalent combination.

  • Experience collecting and identifying invertebrates for field-based studies.

  • Ability to follow research protocols.

  • Driver's license required.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree in Entomology or related field or five years' experience working with insects - collection, ID, curation, and so on

  • Taxonomic specialization in one or more invertebrate groups

  • Proven capacity to work independently in a variety of field settings

  • Excellent written and oral communication

  • Interest in and capacity for peer-reviewed publication

  • Nimbleness to rapidly adjust to lab needs and deadlines
