Job Description:

We are seeking a Technician III - Engineering for Microchip's MCU32 division to support post silicon validation and characterization of 32-bit microcontrollers and other products (WSG, MPU32, CIPG) during the first night shift (3:00PM - 12:00AM with 1 hour break included).

The Technician / Data Collection Operator will be part of the post silicon evaluation team efforts, working closely with Validation, Test and Product engineers to support day to day activities of the Lab and the Test Floor. This role will report to the local validation manager and is based in Chandler, Arizona.

Requirements/Qualifications:

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct Data Collection Operator activities for various product groups.

  • Perform minor assembly and rework of surface-mounted components on PCBs using micro soldering tools and a microscope.

  • Manage and track inventory of lab components, equipment, and parts, including thermal forcing units and tester components.

  • Assist with the scheduling and logistics for equipment calibration.

  • Support team members in equipping and setting up lab workbenches with necessary lab equipment.

  • Setup probe and final test equipment and assist Test engineers with debug of test program.

  • Test and characterize components using pick-and-place handlers and engineering test equipment.

  • Work with remote team members to assist the development of test programs on local equipment.

  • Be flexible to work temporarily the 1st shift or have a 4-hour overlap with the 1st shift during the training period.

Qualifications

  • 3-4 years of related work experience in a technical or engineering environment.

  • Two-year Technical Certificate or equivalent experience in electronics, engineering, or a related field.

  • Associates Degree in a relevant discipline is preferred.

Additional Qualifications

  • Proficiency in using lab equipment such as Oscilloscopes, Function Generators, Logic Analyzers, Power Supplies, Digital Multi-Meters, and Thermal Forcing Units.

  • Ability to interpret and follow electronic schematics and PCB layout drawings with a basic understanding of the electronic circuit theory.

  • Ability to debug and maintain engineering test equipment.

  • Experience in basic troubleshooting of analog and digital electronic circuits.

  • PCB schematic entry and layout development skills are a plus (training is available).

  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications: Outlook, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.

  • Excellent team player with effective communication skills, both oral and written.
