  • Process cord blood/cord tissue samples and maintain certifications at all workstations trained.

  • Adhere to guidelines set forth by the CBR Safety Program, understand job hazard analysis concerns, and communicate safety issues to the applicable Safety Representative.

  • Communicate deviations from procedures, anomalies, and abnormalities to responsible parties (Supervisor, Management, Department, etc.).

  • Perform all assigned duties in compliance with internal policies, processes and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) as well as external regulations as determined by regulatory agencies.

  • Responsible for remaining current in all training.

  • Perform repetitive tasks while maintaining attention to detail.

  • Audit, verify, and maintain accurate records for each sample.

  • Maintain donor, client, and employee confidentiality.

  • Evaluate disposables and equipment for non-conformities and notify responsible parties (QC, Supervisor, and/or Management).

  • Perform daily department startup/shutdown checklist tasks and documentation.

  • Perform general lab cleaning and maintenance.

  • Participate in department projects as needed.

  • *Able to take clear direction, work independently and complete tasks by end of shift.

  • Eligible to be a mentor at the discretion of management and participates in all aspects of the Mentor Program when mentor role is assigned.

  • Assist Supervisors while handling processing exception scenarios when applicable.

  • Collaborate on document changes (SOP's, WI's, and forms) as needed.

  • Function as department point of contact when Supervisor and Technician III are not available.

  • Participates in specialty teams and performs projects as needed (i.e.: Safety Team, documents representative, cross training).

  • A four year or Associate's degree in a Laboratory Science or MLT/CLT;

  • *and/or one year experience working at CBR with six months experience as a processing technician;

  • and/or one year experience working at CBR with leadership experience as a Technician II;

  • and/or equivalent combination of education/experience.

  • Leadership Experience:

  • *Experience in guiding or mentoring junior staff

  • Language/Communication Skills:

  • Demonstrate ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.

  • Demonstrate ability to write routine reports and correspondence.

  • Demonstrate ability to speak effectively before groups of employees in the organization.

  • Use grammar, vocabulary and style to communicate logically.

  • Demonstrates social capability - interacts confidently and reads the situation. Empathetic and can evaluate likely reactions.

  • Avoids engaging in unprofessional conversation.

  • *Demonstrate ability to deal with conflict in productive and professional manner. Contributes to positive environment.

  • Demonstrate ability to be collaborative and is able to communicate effectively with supervisors, managers, and other departments.

  • Mathematical Skills:

  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals.

  • Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

  • Reasoning Ability:

  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.

  • Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

  • Attention to Detail:

  • Ability to 'zoom in' to detail quickly and accurately. Checks information while picking up inconsistencies and mistakes.

  • Participates and sees individual tasks through to completion.
