Job Description

The Technician I, under general supervision, assists in planning research on support laboratory methods and techniques, carrying out procedures, and recording results for a series of closely controlled experiments.

Responsibilities:

• Conducts experiments and technical procedures. Carries out research problems.

• Assists with planning and supervising technical operations.

• Makes complex chemical and physical analyses which, although they follow standard procedures and tests, may require the exercise of some ingenuity and improvisation.

• Uses computer equipment for controlling equipment and compiling data.

• Makes and records observations and measurements.

• Writes and/or edits for publication of scientific materials requiring academic knowledge.

• Researches and catalogs reference materials requiring an understanding of subject matter theory.

• Orders scientific supplies and equipment.

• Performs other duties as assigned.

Required Education and Experience:

• High school diploma or equivalent combination of education and experience.

• Two years of related experience.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

• Knowledge of laboratory equipment, scientific apparatus, and computer equipment.

• Ensure attention to detail. Able to multitask and work cooperatively with others.

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

• Significant travel required.
