Primary Function:

Perform a wide variety of technical/laboratory functions in several different areas with some supervision.

Tools and Equipment:

Uses normal tools as found in the normal investment casting, sand casting and laboratory operations. Uses personal safety equipment, and simple instrumentation and a personal computer.

Exposure to dirt dust, odors, and noise within acceptable limits with the use of protective equipment.

Working Procedure:

The following are the usual major job duties, but this job description does not preclude the performance of other duties as assigned by the supervisor:

  • Make calculations and accurately record data and observations, collect and analyze data manually as well as with a computer.

  • Notify supervisor or responsible engineer of any problems or changes to work plan.

  • Expedite work to meet schedules.

  • Troubleshoot machines as required under Technician II or Engineering Supervision.

  • Some testing and/or certification may be required at this level.

  • Must have ability to follow complex work instructions.

  • Must be proactive and able to work independently without substantial supervision.

  • Must follow all safety requirements of job as outlined on the job safety card.

  • Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor.

  • Complete all paperwork associated with the job. Correctly maintain all forms and instruction sheets.

  • Maintain a clean and orderly working environment.

  • Inform your supervisor about problems that occur.

  • May be required to handle hazardous waste by collecting and transferring the waste into proper containers at satellite storage areas or storage areas and assuring that the containers are properly inspected, labeled, and closed as required. Must follow correct instruction for handling hazardous waste and report any deviations to supervisor immediately. Must attend yearly instruction in hazardous waste handling and review of current procedures if job duties could affect non-compliance.

Special Skills and/or Experience:

Vision requirement of 20/25 near correctable. May be required to lift up to 50lbs. Must be capable on a PC system to work with MSWord and perform data analysis in MS Excel. Able to use computer software for operating test machines and recording data. Able to use or learn how to use micrometer/vernier caliper. Ability to work independently, be detail-oriented and organized. Incumbents must have a high school diploma, good communication skills, and the ability to collect and present data manually. Must be able to work in a team environment.

Minimum Education Requirements:

A minimum of a High School Diploma or GED required.

Provide routine maintenance such as oil changes, filter replacements, tires, brakes, any trailer repairs, including electrical diagnosis and repairs, including ABS system. 2. Conducts preventative maintenance in order to maintain D.O.T. regulations and safety. Replace air chambers, wheel bearings, wheel seals, dollies, doors, door seals, patches roofs and needed repairs to trailer body, aligns axles as needed; and minor damage repair including some welding on aluminum and steel. 3. Maintains a clean and organized work area. Works in a safe and efficient manner. Follows all company safety policies. 4. Maintains organization of shop; follows proper shop procedures, assists other shop staff members with maintenance as needed; and performs various ground and property maintenance as needed. 5. Participates in departmental training involving updated repair procedures, safety awareness and equipment changes. 6. Perform other duties as assigned. Necessary Qualifications: High school diploma or equivalent required; One year of experience in the area of fleet maintenance or related field preferred; ability to read and write work orders, basic computer skills and possession of Roll Tool Chest and hand tools. Physical Qualifications: * Abilty to lift 70 lbs. and apply 20 lbs. of force to pull, push or lift constantly. * Exposures include: various noise levels, vibration of the extremities or whole body, and atmospheric conditions such as fumes, odors, dusts, mists, and gases. * Ability to perform crouching, stretching, high reaching, pushing, pulling, bending, twisting, climbing, and squatting while performing job duties. * Ability to stand, walk and meet the above requirements on various surface areas and conditions.
