Description

Job Summary: As a Fleet Maintenance Technician, diagnose, repair, and maintain various fleet equipment using hand and power tools. Follow diagrams, sketches, and manuals for accurate execution. Communicate effectively and collaborate within the maintenance team.

Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Inspects forklifts, man-lifts, boom lifts, "Joey's," and powered pallet jacks for proper performance.

  • Adjusts and repairs equipment, replacing faulty parts, and performs preventive maintenance activities.

  • Cleans, lubricates, and conducts routine services on heavy-duty vehicles.

  • Consults with other mechanics on smaller jobs.

  • Reports damaged or faulty equipment to management.

  • Measures voltage, current, and power in AC and DC circuits safely, using diagnostic tools to troubleshoot controls and electrical faults on machinery.

  • Performs basic wiring, understands wire gauges, and utilizes a computer with diagnostic software for diagnosing electrical and automation problems.

  • Aligns, installs, and maintains belt drives and pulleys; chain and sprocket drives; shaft assemblies; pillow block bearings; various couplings.

  • Understands fluid contamination prevention processes and procedures, and installs, repairs, and maintains pumps, hoses, valves, cylinders, filters, regulators, and seals.

  • Reads and understands electrical circuit diagrams, hydraulic schematics, and mechanical drawings/blueprints.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Education and Experience Requirements:

An individual in this position has attained a minimum of HS diploma/GED to meet entry-level requirements and has completed certification in any of the skilled maintenance trades. Education beyond the minimum is an added advantage for career development activities.

The individual will have a minimum of 1-3 years of basic mechanical experience. The individual should also have a basic understanding of computers including Microsoft Office, such as Outlook, Word, Excel and should know how to search, send electronic communication, find files, etc. Individual needs to be able to learn and use preventive maintenance software for scheduling and monitoring various equipment throughout the factory.

The individual should have hands-on experience with all types of equipment controls. Current material handling certification, Lock Out/Tag Out, Lifting & Rigging, preventive or predictive maintenance.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Successful job incumbents will consistently demonstrate competency when engaged in the following critical tasks:

  • Evaluate corrective maintenance/repair on machinery.

  • Continuous successful pursuit of and completion of the designated maintenance education program.

Work Environment:

  • Perform all tasks on-site.

  • Ensure a safe work environment by following applicable safety policies.

  • Work consistently in a dusty factory setting, experiencing extreme temperatures.

  • Collaborate efficiently in a team for effective problem-solving and backup support.

  • Work at elevated heights exceeding 3 ft. when necessary.

  • Lift weights of up to 50 pounds.
