In your role, you will:

  • Perform inspection, make adjustment and repair, replace components, and correct any malfunction or deficiency with and without power applied to the aircraft

  • Perform maintenance on customer aircraft in accordance with applicable technical data and FAA/JAA regulations

  • Access and re-install aircraft components, which obstruct the performance of assigned tasks

  • Perform basic mechanical and electrical removals and installations

  • Document work performed per Inspections Procedures Manual (IPM)

  • Work on aircraft as well as in shops

  • Perform other tasks, for example, cleaning aircraft using approved materials, methods, and equipment, load and secure ballast and/or freight as required

  • Coordinate with technical representatives, lab, and other personnel in resolving systems or component problems

  • Fabricate parts/wire harness and install per engineering specifications

  • Assist with repairs on components detached from the aircraft, for example, flaps, ailerons, elevators, rudders, doors, and leading edges

  • Assist with complex repairs at on-site and off-site locations

  • Assist with engine removal and installation

  • Assist in development of installations for engineering

  • Assist with fueling/defueling aircraft as required

  • Assist Aircraft Engine Technicians and Aviation Maintenance Technicians in troubleshooting and repairing aircraft

  • Support production aircraft under Production Certificate System

  • Assist Aviation Maintenance Technicians in the operation of ground support equipment (GSE), for example, tugs, jacks, nitrogen and oxygen servicing

  • Perform Designated Inspector (DI) function as qualified by QA

  • Assist other employees in the performance of their duties within area(s) of qualification

  • Troubleshoot and perform complex electrical repairs at on-site and off-site locations

  • Troubleshoot and repair components detached from the aircraft, for example, flaps, ailerons, elevators, rudders, doors, and leading edges

  • Assist with complete engine runs on Bombardier aircraft for assigned area

  • Transport aircraft as needed for maintenance using tugs

As our ideal candidate,

  • You will have typically 3 years electrical/avionics maintenance experience which must include 1 year of experience on jet aircraft

  • You will have 2 years electrical avionics technical school with certificate or equivalent military/vendor training

  • You will have the ability to read and interpret engineering documents, maintenance manuals and repair manuals

  • You will have the ability to read and interpret engineering documents and repair manuals

  • You will have the ability to read, write, and understand the English language

Much of the work is diagnostic, involves the use of specialized instruments, and may be performed under emergency conditions. The employee may work independently in the shop or in the field. Work may include supervision of electricians or other technicians. Examples of Work Performed: * Uses diagnostic tools including voltmeter, wattmeter, and service monitor. * Calibrates electronic meters and instruments. * Repairs and inspects electronic equipment and/or electronic components of electronic equipment. * Repairs electromechanical devices. * Plans updates and improvements to facilities. * Makes complicated revisions in existing equipment. * Maintains inventory of repair parts. * May train, advise, and/or direct lower level electronics technicians. * Completion of work assignments will require the operation of a vehicle. * These examples are not intended to be all-inclusive. Other related duties and responsibilities may be assigned as needed. Requirements of Work: * Considerable knowledge of National Electronic Code * Considerable knowledge of occupational hazards and safety methods * Knowledge of operation, assembly, installation and diagnosis of electrical and electronic circuits * Considerable knowledge and experience in the use of personal computers and computer networks. * Experience with or ability to learn Human Machine Interface (HMI) software * Ability to program and troubleshoot Programmable Logic Controllers * Ability to make repairs on printed circuit boards * Ability to use hand tools required for electronic repairs and adjustments * Ability to read and interpret material presented in repair manuals, including schematic diagrams of solid-state circuitry * Ability to lift and carry equipment weighing up to 50 pounds * Ability to analyze and repair equipment using instruments such as oscilloscope, volt, am and ohm meters, frequency generators and multipliers, curve tracers, and power generators * Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with associates, employees of other Departments, and representatives of other organizations * Ability to communicate clearly and effectively, both orally and in writing * Ability to acquire and maintain a valid Kansas driver's license * May require ability to climb and work on towers up to 210 feet in height An employee shall not pose a direct threat to the health or safety of other individuals in the workplac Required Experience and Training: Four years experience in installation, inspection, and maintenance of electrical and electronic circuits plus graduation or certification from a trade school specializing in electronics. Federal Aviation Agency Repairman Certificate may be preferred. An equivalent combination of experience and training may be considered.
