De La Pena Eye Group is hiring a Fulltime Retina Technician / Ophthalmic Technician to join our growing and busy office located in Los Angeles, CA.
Please note the pay range for this position is $24-$30/hr.
About the Opportunity
Working Monday through Friday, 8:00 am to 5:00 pm, you have the opportunity to join a multi-site, multispecialty, state of the art group of providers that was founded in 1984. Over the past four decades DLP Eye Clinic has treated more than 400,000 patients! Some Saturday availability from 7:00 am to 3:30 pm is required, and there is frequently an opportunity for overtime.
This position would demonstrate a commitment to providing top-quality care. They should possess attributes that include excellent communication skills, time-management skills, self-motivation, and the ability to work independently and as a team to accomplish daily goals and objectives. Ophthalmic Scribes are responsible for the direct-patient care. Scribes document medical findings and communication between doctor and patient in Electronic Medical Records.
This position requires frequent traveling to other De La Pena Eye Clinic sites throughout the greater Los Angeles area.
About the Candidate
Bilingual English/Spanish required.
High school diploma, GED or equivalent.
Be able to perform OCT, topography and fundus photos.
Assist in minor surgical procedures such as injections, lasers, etc.
Measuring visual acuities, intraocular pressures, refraction and pachymetry.
Schedule surgical cases.
Perform other duties and assume various responsibilities as determined by the team lead and doctor.
Provide patients and/or family members with instructions for self-care and follow-up as directed by the physician.
Accurately and thoroughly document ophthalmic exams and procedures as they are being performed by the physician.
List all appropriate diagnosis and symptoms as well as follow-up instructions and prescriptions as directed by physician.
Perform clerical tasks as needed by the physician including faxing, phone calls, referral letters.
Prepare exam rooms and assist during physician exam.
Document medical visits and procedures as they are being performed by the physician accurately and thoroughly.
