The technician shall work closely with scientists and other lab personnel, and will perform laboratory activities to support on-going projects. Lab activities can be routine or non-routine experiments. Some routine work can include chemical handling for use in high temperature and high pressure/high vacuum polymerizations, thermal analysis, equipment maintenance, etc. While non-routine work can include assembly, testing and trouble shooting of new lab set-up, and lab work required to support manufacturing needs, etc. It is expected that the technician be able to practice and teach safe work habits, comply with all safety, health, and environmental rules and regulations.
Work closely with scientists and engineers in supporting on-going EM projects
Safely perform and complete routine and non-routine lab experiments (high temp chemistry polymerization and wet chemistry)
Conduct and/or submit for chemical analysis of raw materials and product samples using different analytical methodologies/instrumentation.
Responsible for maintenance of assigned lab equipment and in proper working condition
Maintain a properly filled lab notebook. Record all data, unusual observations.
Order chemicals, materials, equipment and supplies via purchasing system
Familiar with analytical and polymer characterization test equipment
Submit or provide update/progress reports on a timely manner. Maintain and secure electronic data and documentations
Follow safe work practices; be proactive in implementing safety and housekeeping
More than one year relevant experience working in a chemistry lab (wet chemistry, lab scale reactions, polymerization reaction is a plus) Associates degree (Preferably, Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Polymer Science, Material Science) Experience with handling and safe handling/disposal of hazardous chemicals Familiarity with operating common lab equipment, procedures, and handling chemicals Demonstrate mechanical aptitude, ability to maintain and troubleshoot laboratory set-up and equipment Positive work attitude and initiative; pro-actively seek best practices for improved efficiency Strong communication skills and team player
Working knowledge of MS tools (Excel, Word, Power Point, Outlook)
Working knowledge (or experience) in lab scale polymerization
Candidates with appropriate experience in materials R&D
