The Camera Technician should show a very strong attention to detail, the ability to see tasks through from beginning to completion, and the ability to understand and meet the needs that are essential to this position. Candidate should possess a diverse, well-rounded knowledge base of current Camera and Optics equipment as well as emerging technologies. Candidate should also possess strong communication skills as they are integral to this role.
Responsibilities
Essential functions
Quality Control
Reassemble camera kit upon return of equipment
Check kit case for proper foam packing, case integrity and case cleanliness. Replace or clean case, when necessary.
Thoroughly test, per QC SOPs, all rental assets to ensure all equipment is functioning properly
Evaluate any non-functioning, damaged or partially rental assets for a quick repair with parts on hand.
Document in AMS engineering logs all QC events, pass or fail
Tag and store all QC'd Passed gear
Tag and place on damage shelf all QC Failed gear that is unfixable in QC
Maintain a clean and organized workspace
Repair and Maintenance
Perform quick repair of common product defects and damages
Perform maintenance and cleaning
Discern between client damages, common product defects and wear & tear
Document in AMS time and materials consumed in making repairs, as well as full details of any repair, maintenance work completed
Product Support
Provide over the phone support
Provide in-person support during client preps and occasionally on-set
Other duties
As needed as directed by the GM to support the mission of the shop.
Travel required
Occasionally, as required.
Qualifications
Experience
Five years previous experience
Bachelor's degree preferred
High school diploma or GED required
On-set experience preferred
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Must have working knowledge of camera test gear, test signals, monitoring and hook-ups
Must have working knowledge of taking optics including essential maintenance processes: collimation, shimming or Flange Focal Depth adjustment, and other related processes
Must be able to do light repairs with available parts of common product damages and failures
Competencies
Excellent communications skills, both verbal and written
Understanding of on-set etiquette
Passion for our industry and our customers.

Physical demands
Ability to lift 50 pounds and perform work that occasionally is physically demanding.
