We are seeking an experienced Veterinary Assistant to join our team.

VCA Jackson Animal Hospital is a small and unique 4.5 Doctor Practice that believes in creating a comforting and special experience for each patient and client.

The successful candidate will be a believer in the possibilities of high quality veterinary medicine and patient carewith the expertise and technical know-how to make them happen.

In this position you will be supporting our Doctors and Technician team by creating a positive, low-stress atmosphere for our clients and patients. Duties will include:

  • Maintaining medical records.

  • Preparing surgical suite and surgical patients.

  • Filling prescriptions.

  • Performing laboratory work and diagnostic imaging.

  • Providing compassionate care and a home away from home for boarded and hospitalized pets.

Position Responsibilities: Performs various clinical/technical tasks, such as: collection of urine (UDS,DOT UDS), breath alcohol testing, respiratory fit testing, audiometry, spirometry, phlebotomy, injections, EKG, Vision, vital signs, lab draws, crutch walking, splinting , basic first aid, etc. (Occupational Health provides 24 hour substance abuse testing.) Assists with daily patient care, assists clinician, prepares patient for testing/exam, responsible for efficient patient flow. Discharges patients when appropriate. Maintains medical record and real time data entry. Fax appropriate paperwork to companies/clients in accordance with the HIPPA law. Performs front desk duties as directed which may include registering patients and billing. Performs daily regulatory testing as required and documents accordingly, to ensure that clinical equipment is accurate and compliant. Oversees inventory and stocking of supplies, equipment with QA checks, and linen.
