Job Summary:

Technician Apprentice is under close supervision of a Supervisor or lead, assist in performing technician duties within the context of the training requirements and successful completion of competency steps of the Technician Apprenticeship Program.

Essential Function:

Cell Technician

  • Learn and assist in stocking vehicle with necessary equipment on a weekly basis

  • Assist the technician to repair or replace damaged or faulty items in a timely manner to ensure maximum network availability.

  • Learn how to perform all components of cell site maintenance including: automatic/manual optimization, antenna testing and results analysis.

  • Learn how to perform testing, acceptance and analysis of DS0, FT1, T1, T3, OC3, and STS1 circuits including: Microwave or SONET systems, CSU, T1 interface devices, Digital Cross Connects and physical cross connects utilizing appropriate test equipment (T-BERD or equivalent)

  • Learn the power systems functionality to perform and analyze battery routines, perform voltage adjustments and PM's on rectifiers and DC power systems.

  • Assist in the proper maintenance of site buildings and grounds.

  • Learn and assist to complete required equipment, supply paperwork and printouts.

  • Learn the technology outlined in the Apprenticeship Program

  • Ability to follow daily instructions.

Satellite Technician:

  • Learn and assist in stocking vehicle with necessary equipment on a weekly basis

  • Learn and assist how to run cables and hook up receivers

  • Assist technician to determining the best location for customer satellites

  • Learn how to provide technology service and support to customers

  • Ensure customer satisfaction at the highest level

  • Learn how to run the systems to be able to communicate all aspects of running the system to the customer providing thorough explanations

  • Learn the technology outlined in the Apprenticeship Program

  • Ability to follow daily instructions.

Recommended Minimum Job Requirements:

  • At least 18 years of age and legally able to work in the United States

  • High school diploma or GED required

  • Must have a valid driver's license

Recommended Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Possess a valid driver's license

  • Working knowledge of hand tools and power tools

  • Basic computer skills and comfortable operating electronic devices

  • Strong customer service skills

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

  • Available for a flexible work schedule (weekends / holidays / evenings)

Physical Demands:

Cell Technician:

  • Be able to lift up to 60 lbs. on a regular basis

  • Comfortable working outdoors in all types of weather throughout the year

  • Ability to sit, stand, stoop and drive

  • Ability to hear, understand and respond appropriately to verbal requests make in person and over the telephone

Satellite Technician:

  • Be able to lift up to 80 lbs. on a regular basis

  • Be comfortable climbing up to heights of 40 feet

  • Be able to work safely from a ladder rated for a maximum working load of 300 lbs. including all tools and equipment

  • Be comfortable working in crawlspaces and attics

  • Ability to sit, stand, stoop and drive

  • Comfortable working outdoors in all types of weather throughout the year

This is a regional service position that will require regular travel to cities in and around your area. You will be responsible for electrical installations, servicing basic electrical equipment and systems in accordance with all applicable plans, specifications, and codes. You will be responsible for resolving the customer's electrical problems in the highest professional and safe manner. You will be expected to present yourself in a clean and professional manner at all times. Job Duties and Responsibilities: * Assembling, installing, testing, and maintaining electrical or electronic wiring, conduit, cable, equipment, components and devices associated with electrical equipment, following blueprints of electrical layouts and building plans. * Installing, testing, troubleshooting, and maintaining, EMS systems, smart breakers, electronic controls, devices, panels, sensors, and components. * Inspecting installation sites and studying work orders, building plans, and installation manuals in order to determine materials requirements and installation procedures. * Testing electrical systems and continuity of circuits in electrical wiring, equipment, and fixtures using test devices * Diagnosing malfunctioning systems, apparatus, and components, using test equipment and hand tools, to locate the cause of a breakdown and correct the problem. * Directing and training workers to install, maintain, or repair electrical wiring, equipment, and fixtures. Qualifications / Skills Sets / Expectations: * Five (5) years of experience working in the electrical service industry. * Must successfully pass a background check and drug test * High School Diploma or GED * Must have a valid driver's license and good driving record. * Reliable Transportation * Ability to use and translate Meter readings (meggers, phase rotation, circuit tracers, underground locators, voltage, ohm, and amp type testers) * knowledge of current smartphone / personal tablet technology and comfortable using multiple web-based applications * Ability to handle sales, transactions, work orders, quotes, logs, company vehicles * Must wear OSHA approved boot length pants and a shirt that covers the shoulders by seven (7) inches. Physical Abilities: * Lifts at least 100 pounds at one time and 60 pounds for an extended period of time. * Works at various heights up to 60 feet and can climb and maintain balance on scaffolds, aerial lifts, catwalks and all types of ladders. * Walks, climbs, lifts, squats, crawls, kneels, pushes, pulls and reaches overhead on a routine and repetitive basis. * Possess good vision (may be corrected vision), the ability to see in color, and the ability to hear and communicate in English. * May use a standard ladder without exceeding the weight limit while carrying tools. * Tell when something is wrong or is likely to go wrong. It does not involve solving the problem, only recognizing there is a problem. * Apply general rules to specific problems to produce answers that make sense. * Combine pieces of information to form general rules or conclusions (including finding a relationship among seemingly unrelated events). * See details at close range (within a few feet of the observer). * Listen to and understand information and ideas presented through spoken words and sentences. Optional but preferred: * Possess a journeyman's license or equivalent in the appropriate jurisdiction. * Experience working on electrical projects for big box retailers. * Experience on aerial lifts (scissor, platform, and snorkel) is preferred.
