Assist students and others as they navigate the financial aid process, in-person, email, and by phone. Provide verbal and written responses to questions about the application, processing, aid offers, and relevant policies.

Review and process incoming documents. Work reports. Collect and compile data on in-person contacts.

Work in evenings without direct supervision.

Hours for this position are Monday

  • Thursday 10:30 am

  • 7:00 pm. Friday 8:00 am

  • 4:30 pm.

Essential Responsibilities and Duties

  • Work with students in-person and via email to assist in the completion and processing of financial aid applications. This may include helping complete forms and applications, answering questions, providing information, resolving problems, and other related tasks.

  • Work in evenings without direct supervision.

  • Review and process incoming documents. Work reports. Collect and compile data on in-person contacts.

  • Other duties as assigned.

Essential Responsibilities and Duties Continued Minimum Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent.

  • One (1) year paid, full-time experience in financial aid and/or customer service.

Education can be substituted for full-time experience on a 1:1 basis.

Part time experience may be considered on a prorated basis.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience and or knowledge of Financial Aid.

Experience with Banner.

Must have excellent work attendance.

Nine (9)- twelve (12) months or more of Customer Service experience.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Knowledge of Title IV financial aid.

  • Knowledge of Banner computer system preferred.

  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office Software.

  • Knowledge of Salt Lake Community College (SLCC) policies, procedures, and programs.

  • Effective interpersonal communication skills and experience (customer service, listening, writing, assisting).

  • Knowledge of general office procedures.

  • Data input experience.

  • Adaptable to frequent change.

  • Function in high stress environment.

  • Ability to communicate effectively with a broad range of diverse people, ability, culture, and ethnic background, to maintain good working relationships across the College.

  • Ability to work with all groups in a diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, and ethnic background of community college students, faculty, and staff, including those with disabilities.

Willingness to help other staff members when asked.
