Under the supervision of the Career Services Director, the Career Development Project Assistant assumes responsibility for day-to-day management of assigned projects(s). This position will coordinate processes that ensure projects are delivered on time and produce the desired result. This position will support the Director by creating data visuals, developing PowerPoint presentations, editing documents and plans, creating marketing materials, collecting, and analyzing data, and working with stakeholders inside and outside of Salt Lake Community College (SLCC).

The ideal candidate will be a problem-solver who has excellent communication skills and impeccable attention to detail. The ability to multitask, manage complex schedules, and meet changing deadlines is essential for the position.

This position is located at the Taylorsville campus and is positioned at the front desk. Upon completion of onboarding, working remotely 1-2 day a week may be an option. This position will also receive professional development.

Essential Responsibilities and Duties

  • Present ideas and create content using data to tell the story.

  • Plan communications strategies for social media and create content for online and printed media.

  • Maintain and update the department's social media, website, handouts, and flyers to support marketing content deployment.

  • Coordinate and support Career Services Director by proofreading strategic plans, collecting data, creating infographics, and creating PowerPoints.

  • Provide proofreading support in accordance with SLCC style guide.

  • Redesign ppt templates, handouts, and website.

  • Take notes during staff, leadership team, and retreats.

  • Enter and retrieve data from the Career Services Handshake database.

  • Create, update, and maintain various documents and tools, files, inventories, and records; implement and maintain data management systems.

  • Coordinate and ensure the smooth management of marketing and assessment.

  • Run reports and make visual appealing graphs and charts for storytelling.

  • Assist with the execution of marketing and promotional plans for all employer related events.

  • Ensure that documentation relating to events is maintained in an orderly and efficient manner.

  • Support the Administrative Assistant as needed.

  • Answer telephones, greet walk-in students, faculty, staff, and employers in a professional, efficient manner.

  • Other duties as assigned.

Essential Responsibilities and Duties Continued Minimum Qualifications

  • High school Diploma or equivalent.

  • One (1) year full-time related professional experience.

  • Trade off 1:1 in experience/education requirement.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Associate degree.

  • Strong preference given to individuals with previous experience in an education setting.

  • Experience using Adobe, Canva, and/or Qualtrics is a plus.

  • Preference will also be given to those who are Bilingual.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Experience in Adobe Suite applications - Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator, and/or Canva.

  • Experience with assessment and data using tools such as Qualtrics, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.

  • Genuine interest in presenting ideas and creating content to make presentations, plans, and visuals better.

  • Must be able to prioritize workload and complete tasks to meet deadlines, with minimal supervision.

  • Planning communications strategies for social media and creating content for online and printed media.

  • Maintain and update the department's social media and editorial calendar to support marketing content deployment.

  • May hire students to support work.

  • Provide proofreading support in accordance with SLCC style guide.

  • Provide logistical and coordination support for SLCC events organized by Career Services.

  • Participate as an active member of Career Services by sharing information and collaborating with colleagues in a respectful and professional manner and contributing to a healthy and positive work environment.

  • Excellent organizational skills.

  • Ability to communicate effectively with a broad range of diverse people, ability, culture, and ethnic background, to maintain good working relationships across the College.

  • Ability to work with all groups in a diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, and ethnic background of community college students, faculty, and staff, including those with disabilities.
