Position Summary:

Cepeda Systems and Software Analysis, Inc. has an immediate opening for a Technical Writer/Editor to work on the Objective Simulation Framework (OSF). OSF is the primary Ballistic Missile Defense System (BMDS) simulation framework used by the Missile Defense Agency.

Technical Writer responsibilities include:

  • Creates, develops, plans, writes and edits operational, instructional, maintenance or test procedures for paper, multimedia or web-based publication.

  • Conducts interviews with various users and technical staff to gather data for documentation.

  • Researches and translates technical information into manuals and/or web-based documents for nontechnical and technical users.

  • May document engineering processes and specifications.

  • Recommends formats responsive to technical and customer requirements.

  • Produces products that conform to the company documentation and quality assurance standards.

Technical Editor responsibilities include:

  • Edits, rewrites and authenticates technical user manuals, application papers, product descriptions, data sheets and specification books.

  • Receives text from technical staff and rewrites documentation in a clear and concise style.

  • Improves editorial and visual standards for documents and recommends new designs, layouts and procedures as needed.

Education Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree in English or Journalism or a degree in a recognized field of engineering which includes extensive courses/experience in technical writing.

Experience Required:

  • The candidate must have a minimum of 7 years of demonstrated experience.

Knowledge/Skills:

  • Proven experience working in a technical writing position

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office

  • Strong attention to detail

  • Able to write in explanatory and procedural styles for multiple audiences

  • Skilled at prioritization and multi-tasking

U.S. Citizenship is required

Must possess an active Secret Security Clearance

Other documentation types may range from user guides to maintenance work orders. Applicant must be able to communicate clearly and effectively to express technical information to a wide range of audiences. Interfaces with a variety of stakeholders to ensure that messaging and themes conform to a desired common voice. Assists with publishing and preparing documentation for delivery to the customer. Qualifications: Applicable experience in technical writing, publishing or other related technical area. Bachelors in English or Technical Writing. Four years of additional years of experience will be considered in lieu of a college degree. Required/Desired Capabilities: * Must be able to obtain a DoD security clearance. * Expertise with MS Word and the applications of templates, styles, table of contents creation, and cross references. * Familiarity with finalizing documents using Adobe Acrobat Professional. * Familiarity with reviewing RFPs and contract language. * Previous experience working independently, and as a team member within a fast paced and dynamic development environment.
