An exciting opportunity as a Technical Writer/Editor is currently accepting applications in Greenville, SC. This is a full-time contract position. Technical Writer is responsible for producing and delivering end-user technical documentation for packaging equipment, including technical manuals, digital content, and supplemental materials. This position will gather technical information from subject matter experts (SMEs), write/edit copy using proper grammar and standard technical writing style, and verify accuracy of content by obtaining SME technical reviews. This position ensures that all documents meet

established content standards as well as customer-specific requirements. This position works closely with many different departments to meet deadlines. This position is a key part of each project team and participates in all aspects of product development as a user advocate. A successful candidate will have a Bachelor"s degree or 2 to 4 years" experience in similar field.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Create technical operations, safety, installation, and maintenance documentation for packaging equipment from scratch, using schematics, mechanical drawings, touchscreen programs, and subject matter expert interviews as source material.

• Update existing technical documentation as required by changes to equipment and customer demand.

• Work with engineering and assembly staff to ensure technical accuracy of material.

• Create illustrations for technical documentation from engineering drawings or photos.

• Work with Technical Illustrator to produce final technical documentation.

• Photograph and video equipment; edit video for internal or external use as needed.

• Coordinate production of technical documentation (printing, shipping, translation, digital publication, etc.).

• Create content for use in eLearning and formal training.

• Support other departments as required with technical material, photos, and videos.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

• Bachelor"s degree or 2 to 4 years" experience in similar field

• Excellent writing, editing, and proofreading skills

• Ability to take technical information and make it usable for average users

• Ability to create simple graphics and manipulate photos

• Knowledge of automation, mechanical, electrical, and software concepts

• Ability to work independently, while meeting deadlines for multiple projects

• Ability to work with Adobe Illustrator, Acrobat, and Photoshop

• Ability to think analytically and creatively

• Must be team-oriented and self-motivated

• Must demonstrate flexibility, sense of urgency, attention to detail, project management ability, and

professionalism

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

• Experience with XML, structured authoring, and single-source publishing a plus

• Experience with SolidWorks Composer, AutoCAD and/or SolidWorks a plus

• Experience with any documentation Content Management System such as Adobe FrameMaker, MadCap preferred
