The Technical Writer will serve as a member of the Knowledge and Training team responsible for ensuring accurate documentation is provided to the workforce and end users on systems and services provided on the program. Candidate will be responsible for managing knowledge requirements, knowledge articles, and the knowledge database in support of a large IT infrastructure services program within the Intelligence Community.

  • Develop and design documentation for the company's program, applications, and systems

  • Work with the applicable business unit/area to establish specifications of documentation

  • Lead Knowledge Team by providing guidance, instruction, direction and leadership to effectively and efficiently manage knowledge base of over 3,500 technical articles and documents to ensure work is reviewed and completed in a timely manner for internal and external customers

  • Contribute to development of processes to drive customers to use self-help in order to decrease service desk calls

  • Write, rewrite and/or edit technical documents such as technical procedure manuals, user manuals, programming manuals, service manuals, operational specifications, and related technical publication to communicate clearly and effectively to a wide range of audiences

  • Acquires subject knowledge by interviewing product developers, observing performance of production methods, referring to technical specifications, engineering illustrations, trade journals, and other documentation available within the industry

  • Oversees preparation of illustrative materials, selecting drawings, sketches, diagrams and charts

  • Conducts quality review of materials

  • Standardizes content across platforms and media

  • Gathers usability feedback from customers, designers and manufacturer

  • Writing, editing, proofreading, and research duties in connection with the preparation of Technical Manuals (TMs) and technical publications on the theory, installation, operation and maintenance of assigned systems

  • Distribute documentation and promotion of knowledge system to drive customer use

  • Verifying knowledge of subject by interviewing workers engaged in developing new products and services or in making improvements, observing performance and methods of production, trade and engineering journals, bulletins, manuals, or similar publications

  • Tracking status of multiple projects

  • Other duties as assigned

Required Candidate Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree and 5yrs of experience or equivalent combination of education and experience (Bachelor's degree in business administration, computer science, engineering or related field preferred)

  • Proficiency with Microsoft office products (Word, Excel, Project, PowerPoint, SharePoint)

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills

  • Experience in editing and submitting draft manuals, coordinating/conducting data collection, and guiding a project from inception through completion.

  • Experience with technical writing and editing tools

  • Experience working with company software, systems, applications and network products

  • Experience working with communication practices, principles and procedures for both on-site and on-line presentations

  • TS/SCI with Poly clearance
