The IT Technical Writer acts as translator, providing users with the information that will resonate best with them based on their background. Creates documentation and education materials to boost user experience on a digital platform. Such documentation may come in the form of user guides, integration guides, API developer guides, in-platform instructions, installation/configuration instructions and system operations.
JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Oversees the planning, creation, and modification of current and new technical content, policies, procedures, guidelines, standards, and architectural diagrams, to explain complex information in a clear and concise manner for non-technical end users, as well as our highly technical audience.
Assess and evaluate the business needs and level of knowledge relevant to technical documentation
Consult software, product, and technology subject matter experts to review, modify, and revise complex documentation for all departments within Information Technology, employees, and audiences
Interpret complex software/product/system features and functions and translate them into a concise, relevant, and readable format Write clear, concise documentation that help end users' complete tasks quickly and easily
Maintains strong skills with Microsoft office products and other approved software applications in accordance with SLUHN technology needs
Assists in workflow analysis and adaptations related to the use of information systems for maximum efficiency
PHYSICAL AND SENSORY DEMANDS:
Sitting for up to 7 hours per day, 4 hours at a time; standing for up to 7 hours per day, 4 hours at a time; walking for up to 2 hours a day, 1 hour at a time. Seeing as it relates to general, near, color, and peripheral vision. Hearing as it relates to normal and telephone conversations.
Associate and/or bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Healthcare or other related discipline required. Training in Journalism, English, or Communications with technical and scientific knowledge required. Technical Writing or Professional Technical Writing certification preferred.
TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE
Three to five years of experience in Technical Writing in a healthcare environment with additional experience in a technical field preferred.
