A technology company in San Jose, CA is looking for a Technical Writer that will research, write, layout, illustrate and edit technical product documentation for new and existing products. The types of documentation may include marketing white papers and product data sheets, engineering processes and specifications, technical support field bulletins, and product documentation including Software Release Notes, Installation Guides, Users Guides, and Reference Guides, and other company documentation.
Responsibilities:
Generates product documentation plans based on the product MRD and PRD that best communicate the technical and customer requirements.
Gathers information from ATI users and technical staff for product related documentation.
Writes overviews of product features in simple and complete terms that are understandable by a layman.
Describes the step-by-step process to configure and use products through written explanations and illustrations.
Recommends formats responsive to technical and customer requirements.
Produces products that conform to the company documentation and quality assurance standards.
Generates and improves departmental tools, guidelines and standards to improve the quality and efficiency of writing product documentation.

Requirements:
Must have a Bachelors Degree. English or Technical Communications is a major plus
Must have at least 5 years of direct experience in writing technical manuals
Experience with hardware product installation and users guides
Expert user with Adobe Frame Maker, Illustrator, Photoshop and Acrobat
Experience with Dream Weaver and Fireworks is desirable
Must have an ability to complete and deliver technically accurate, high-quality documentation within specified deadlines
Must have strong verbal and written (English) communication skills
Must be able to work independently on assigned projects from conception to completion with minimum supervision
Must be able to contribute to the generation and improvement of existing departmental standards and procedures
Must be able to conform and adhere to existing departmental standards and procedures
Be able to lift up to 25 lbs.

Position Summary This position is responsible for building and maintaining product content for F5's product line. Deliverables can include release notes, articles, in-product help, videos, and supplemental text for publication at product release. The Technical Writer II will work independently and as part of a team. The Technical Communication team works with the engineering teams, subject matter experts, product management team, UX design team, and other partners to build content to support F5 products. The Technical Communication team is constantly looking for new ways to ensure customers successfully deploy F5 technology. This position provides the opportunity to enhance your content creation abilities using the latest tools and methods to create, publish, and maintain customer facing content. Work individually and as part of a team of dedicated professionals who produce the highest quality of product documentation with a focus on the customer. Primary Responsibilities * Create technical content to support F5 products * Be a dedicated member of both the engineering and Technical Communications scrum teams * Work with manager to improve internal training materials, project planning tools, and subject matter experts to gain an understanding of the features/functionality being documented * Contribute content during all phases of projects * Work in a team on multiple, concurrent projects * Plan, estimate, and track work effort * Participate in cross functional planning meetings * Organize and facilitate content review process * Use department standards, styles, processes, and methods when performing all tasks * Learn to use the technical communication tools used to create content * Participate in internal and external training programs Knowledge, Skills and Abilities * Strong organizational skills * Experience using industry standard writing and publishing technologies and practices such as XML, Topic Based Authoring, etc. * Experience using content management systems such as Git or Perforce * Exceptional writing skills * Ability to establish successful relationships across a variety of disciplines * Ability to estimate work and meet deadlines independently * Job may require working outside normal business hours (evenings and weekends).
