Writer to develop statement of qualifications and proposal documents supporting Kiewit's water/wastewater market across the United States. Writer will also have the opportunity to support a industrial, energy, and oil and gas market, which are predominantly private clients (versus municipal/public).
Excellent understanding of construction and engineering-focused/technical writing skills
Skilled at collaborating with executives, engineers, construction managers, legal, designers, and others to secure information for various writing assignments
Able to assimilate and convey technical material in a concise and effective manner
Possesses critical thinking skills, such as the ability to present complex technical concepts in a concise, understandable manner
Has an adaptable mindset
Expertise interviewing SME(s) and conducting research necessary to produce accurate, comprehensive content/documents
Interested in learning new information, skills, and tools
Able to lead and manage content development
Understands message and content strategy
Capable of coaching/mentoring junior staff
Ability to work with different personalities in construction industry
Ability to manage and prioritize multiple projects/assignments and to deliver them on time with high quality
Primary Job Duties & Responsibilities:
Outline, write, edit and organize proposal documents, while also making timely edits and revisions to documents after reviews
Interview estimate and design teams/subject matter experts (SMEs) to generate original construction/engineering-based/technical content
Lead review discussions of proposal sections
Work with proposal team to develop and streamline technical approach
Incorporate subtle persuasive techniques into writing
Assist in the development of supporting materials (illustrations, tables, etc.)
Ensure submission compliance with the solicitation requirements.
Manage deadlines and responsibilities assigned through responsibility matrix
Provide input and writing for best practices, style guides and templates
Report on the status of assignments.
Perform all other position- related duties as assigned or requested
Travel as needed: 5-10% per year
The successful candidate must possess the following qualifications:
At least 5 years of experience in technical writing and editing, with at least 3 years of proposal experience within the A/E/C (or related) industries
Bachelor's degree, preferably in, Journalism, English or Communications, although any related field to the A/E/C industry will be considered. Construction Management or Engineering degree a plus
Advanced knowledge and skills in Microsoft Office Suite and intermediate skills in Adobe Acrobat
