Location:Arlington, VA / Remote

- Must have an active TopSecret clearance

The DHSs Hunt and Incident Response Team (HIRT) secures the nations infrastructure. HIRT provides DHSs front-line response for cyber incidents and proactive hunting for malicious cyber activity.

Node provides support for on and offsite incident response to Government agencies and critical infrastructure owners who experience cyber-attacks. Node provides HIRT advanced technical assistance, proactive hunting, rapid onsite incident response, and immediate investigation, using host and network-based cybersecurity analysis capabilities.

Node is seeking a Technical Writer to support this critical customer mission.


- Developing and reviewing technical communications deliverables including engineering documentation, operational procedures, plans, action reports, and meeting minutes, coordinating with engineering teams to obtain necessary input data.

- Preparing, reviewing, editing and maintaining program technical documents including software and system engineering documents, CONOPS, test reports, user documentation, implementation documentation, etc. - Creating, reviewing, editing and maintaining technical drawings.


Required Skills:

- U.S. Citizenship.

- Must have an active Top Secret clearance and be able to obtain a TS/SCI clearance.

- Must be able to obtain DHS Suitability.

- 5+ years of technical writing experience including developing communications deliverables such as engineering documentation, plans, action reports, and meeting minutes for internal and external audiences.

- Experience with creating and maintaining information system security documentation and SOPs.

- Excellent hands-on experience with Microsoft Office including MS Word and PowerPoint.

- Fluid technical writing and editing skills, including the use of AP Style.

- Ability to research and analyze complex technical material and break it down into concise, compelling copy that engages the reader.

- Ability to work under pressure with clients, program managers and subject matter experts in a fast-paced cybersecurity environment.

- Familiarity with a variety of internal and external communications vehicles, practices and technologies, including print, electronic, video and social media. Desired Skills:

- Ability to capture meeting discussions at a rapid pace using either shorthand and/or typing fast.

- Experience with creating technical briefings including executive leadership briefings.

- Experience developing news articles, monthly newsletters, executive messages, advanced PowerPoint presentations and infographics.

- Familiarity with cybersecurity communications language and subject matter.

- Experience with Agile development methodologies.

Required Education(including Major)

Bachelors degree from an accredited college or university in English, Business or related, or 7+ years of technical writing and editing experience with a High school diploma

This person should be a seasoned, self-motivated, professional with 5+ years of experience supporting high performing teams in a high op-tempo environment. Due to the secure nature of the program all system changes, plans, and designs require detailed documentation prior to execution. This requires ongoing sustainment of system CONOPs, network diagrams, knowledge management artifacts, etc.</p><p>PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:</p><p>Tasks include:</p><ul><li><p>Responsible for writing, editing, proofreading and/or providing writing support on non-technical and/or technical documents or sections of documents such as manuals, procedures, CONOPs, network diagrams, knowledge management artifacts, etc.</p></li><li><p>Effectively communicate with authors, sponsors, and leadership</p></li><li><p>Translate technical material into easy to consume material for end-user</p></li><li><p>Document and maintain training materials</p></li><li><p>Support technical writing and editing of the continuous development and continuous integration to include operational engineering and integration, release management, implementation &amp; migration, and training &amp; knowledge transfer, specifically functions such as:</p></li><li><p>Operational Engineering and Integration:</p></li><li><p>Develop, document, and maintain functional, integration, security, and load/stress testing procedure</p></li><li><p>Document and deliver an approach for automated acceptance testing, integration/regression testing, all new applications, and all new capabilities</p></li><li><p>Release Management:</p></li><li><p>Participate in the development of the release management process, procedures, and policies</p></li><li><p>Establish, manage, update, and maintain the overall Release Management Plan and Release Schedule</p></li><li><p>Conduct site surveys, as necessary, to assess existing equipment and software being used to validate release package requirements and dependencies</p></li><li><p>Implementation &amp; Migration:</p></li><li><p>Facilitate the migration of customer data and metadata onto the CESO architecture and applications</p></li><li><p>Develop, document, and maintain implementation and migration procedures</p></li><li><p>Install or migrate new and upgraded services components or services into operations</p></li><li><p>Training &amp; Knowledge Transfer</p></li><li><p>Develop, document, and maintain training and knowledge transfer procedures</p></li><li><p>Develop end-user training and knowledge management materials in support of new releases</p></li><li><p>Develop, implement, and maintain a CESO-accessible knowledge database/portal</p></li><li><p>Provide training when substantive technological changes are introduced</p></li></ul><p>BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:</p><ul><li><p>Candidate must possess an active DOD Top Secret level security clearance, and be eligible to obtain and maintain a TS/SCI</p></li><li><p>BA and 8+ years of relevant experience, including 5+ years of experience in technical writing and editing supporting the federal government.
