What does the job entail?

The Technical Writer plays a critical role in our Engineering Operations, collaborating closely with engineering teams to develop comprehensive Service Manuals and Operators Manuals for Monarch Tractor's innovative products. This role requires a blend of technical expertise in mechanical engineering, excellent communication skills, and project management capabilities to ensure the creation of high-quality technical documentation from scratch.

Responsibilities

Documentation Development:

  • Lead the development of Service Manuals and Operators Manuals for Monarch Tractor products, working closely with engineering teams to gather technical specifications, diagrams, and procedures.

  • Create clear, concise, and user-friendly documentation that provides comprehensive guidance on tractor operation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair procedures.

Mechanical Engineering Knowledge:

  • Apply knowledge of mechanical engineering principles to understand tractor components, systems, and functionalities. Translating complex technical information into easily understandable documentation for end-users.

  • Collaborate with engineering teams to ensure accuracy and completeness of technical content in manuals.

Project Management:

  • Develop, maintain, and manage project plans, timelines, and deliverables for technical publications projects.

  • Coordinate cross-functional teams, including engineering, design, quality assurance, and product management, to meet project milestones and deadlines.

  • Proactively identify and mitigate risks to project success, ensuring smooth execution of documentation projects.

Quality Assurance:

  • Implement rigorous quality assurance processes to ensure accuracy, consistency, and compliance with industry standards in all technical documentation.

  • Conduct thorough reviews and revisions of manuals, incorporating feedback from stakeholders and subject matter experts to continuously improve documentation quality.

Stakeholder Collaboration:

  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders, including engineering, customer support, sales, and marketing teams, to understand user requirements and incorporate customer feedback into documentation design and content.

  • Act as a liaison between engineering teams and end-users, facilitating communication and addressing user needs through documentation.

What kind of person are we looking for?

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Technical Communication, or related field

  • Minimum of 3 years experience in technical writing or technical publications role, preferably in the automotive, agriculture, or machinery industry.

  • Strong understanding of mechanical engineering principles and terminology, with the ability to interpret engineering drawings, schematics, and specifications.

  • Proficiency in documentation tools such as Adobe InDesign, MadCap, Flare, or similar software.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to convey complex technical information in a clear and concise manner.

  • Experience in project management, including planning, scheduling, and coordinating cross-functional teams.

  • Attention to detail and a commitment to producing high-quality documentation that meets the needs of end-users.

Preferred Skils:

  • Experience in creating technical documentation for autonomous vehicles, electric vehicles, or agricultural machinery.

  • Familiarity with industry standards and regulations related to technical documentation, such as: S1000D or ATA iSpec 2200.

  • Knowledge of 3D modeling software such as: SolidWorks or AutoCAD.

  • Experience with content management systems (CMS) for documentation, such as: DITA or SharePoint.
